BIOGRAPHY

his name is Clement Jr but he prefers Slack-Jaw to differentiate him from his papa. he was born with proptosis, a misaligned jaw and hyperthymesia. he developed facial paralysis so he can't change his expression. he wears a trapper hat to hide his surgical scars. he's actually quite articulate for a mutant but he acts and communicates like a child.

Slack lives alone and maintains his family home and veggie garden. he acts like his parents are still alive despite wearing their mummified remains in a pouch around his neck. his papa assigned him to "rabbit duty" when he was little and he's been committed ever since. any "vermin" seeking shelter or food on his property will be slaughtered unless he keeps them as pets. he almost always keeps human victims because they're less common than other vermin but way more entertaining. his weapon of choice is his mama's shovel but he also has an arsenal of garden tools and his papa's shotgun if he really needs it. he might seem more forgiving than the other woodsmen because he doesn't eat people but it just prolongs the torture. he makes pets do dangerous tricks and gets angry when they don't obey, not understanding that they're conscious or feel pain.

when he's triggered by something he'll lash out completely until he forgets what upset him in the first place. sometimes he dissociates and goes dormant instead, scrawling random words repeatedly on the walls/floor. he's buried so many of his many previous pets in the garden that their bones are visibly piled up amongst the flowers and vegetables. he hoards trinkets and toys from victims and trades other mutants for them.

BACKSTORY

the Walkers lived on the fringe of the forest where the water was less poisoned and animals were more plentiful, giving them little reason to actively hunt humans. his papa was the brain while his mama was the brawn and they hoped he would inherit their best genes. the Walkers had high-quality natural resources while their relatives had useful supplies taken from victims so they exchanged goods occasionally but the Walkers ultimately hoped to break off from the rest of the family. they wanted to evolve by continuing to inbreed but focusing on balancing intelligence and barbarity, cultivating their own superior community of mutants. they refused to let Slack interact with anyone else to keep him self-sufficient. they taught him survival skills, house maintenance, gardening and medical remedies. he learned how to read, write and talk using simple vocabulary. Slack was tasked with 'rabbit duty" (keeping vermin off the property) to satiate his bloodlust. he would chase, kill and harvest any animals he saw on their land, starting off with rats and rabbits until he began returning with deer and coyotes. his parents warned him to never pursue non-mutants. instead, his papa shot any trespassers on sight and his mama turned them into fertilizer, convincing Slack that non-mutants were just vermin too.

Slack's parents promised to make him a sister to continue the lineage with. he was just excited at the idea of having a playmate. they continuously failed to conceive but refused to change their plan. now a lonely 10 year old, Slack began secretly keeping vermin as pets in his closet. when they inevitably "misbehaved" he would forcefully put them to sleep before burying them in the garden. keeping animals got boring, so he became obsessed with the idea of having a pet non-mutant. he began sneaking off and stalking passing cars he saw around the property. one night, Slack was stalking a non-mutant, unaware that they were an officer investigating reports of missing people in the area. they spotted him, chased him back to his home and discovered objects taken from the missing people. Slack never thought the vermin would be the one chasing him! his papa explained that they didn't kill the missing people and their relatives had traded these items to them, hoping they would arrest them instead. human remains were discovered in their garden so the Walkers were captured anyway, alongside their furious relatives.

Slack was separated from his parents at glenville sanitarium and was taken to the child ward for rehabilitation. because of how his parents treated non-mutants, being rehabilitated to live amongst them made Slack think he was going to be turned into vermin. he had nightmares about re-uniting with his parents after treatment only for his papa to shoot him and for his mama to turn him into fertilizer. Slack behaved himself but refused proper rehabilitation, only asking to be returned to his parents. his cell was adjacent to the Hilliker brothers as the orderlies hoped they would copy his good behavior. instead, the brothers jeered at him until they were moved to the high risk ward, leaving him alone again.

Slack's therapists, seeing his refusal to rehabilitate, began asking about his life with his parents. he fascinated doctors with his incredible memory, recalling events all the way back from infancy. they shifted their focus onto experimenting on him, putting him through countless tests as they tried to figure out his brain. they operated on him while he was still awake because he felt no pain and he was made to repeatedly write phrases and words to ensure he was still conscious. after this, he would start unconsciously writing on his cell floor/walls. it was during one of Slack's brain operations when the Hillikers escaped and freed all the inmates. his doctors panicked mid-surgery, leaving him with permanent brain damage.

Slack found his parents but they had already been butchered by their relatives as revenge for getting them captured. his clear memories of the past and the botched surgery resulted in vivid hallucinations. he believed his parents were somehow still alive and communicating with him, so following "their advice", he took their severed fingers and left the facility. he trudged the whole way home by following the directions of what he thought were his parents' voices, but it was actually his own impressive memory reciting his address and all the survival methods he was taught. when he returned home he sealed up his skull and has maintained the Walker home ever since. he believes the asylum trip was just a bad dream and doesn't know why he recognizes the Hillikers.

Slack's remaining relatives continue exchanging useless stuff like toys from their victims for his weapons and food. they'll laugh at him behind his back but refuse to break his fantasy world because his delusions keep him content (and because he's a menace when he's upset). most of the toys he hoards are actually for his hypothetical sister who he still believes is going to come play with him.

three-finger would be so happy and think they look sick (in a good way) in their older forms, just ecstatic to go hunting with them like they used to through his tearful giggles of joy. he wants to see all their new techniques for tearing people apart!! they're 3x more unstoppable now!!

saw-tooth would think he died and re-united with them in heaven or something if he saw them LOL. but after that shock wears off, he'd be both so damn proud and so sorry that he couldn't be there for them and that they had to toughen up so much without him. they've been hardened by loss and survival, sure, but they're still his little brothers.

one-eye might have toughened up after all the years but upon seeing his brothers he may as well be the little kid he was when he would run up to them for a hug. they'd be SO dang proud of him. three-finger would be hyping him up so much and saw-tooth would be in disbelief until he truly realises his little brother has always been capable of being the badass he has become.

one-eye was the most bumbling and juvenile out of the three hilliker brothers. throughout childhood and into adulthood he always followed in his brothers' footsteps but ironically became the sole survivor of the cabin explosion. he was rehabilitated by his estranged family (maynard, ma and pa). embarrassed by his pathetic state, he decided to hide away and live in his own remote cabin rather than alongside the rest of the family who visited him occasionally.

feeling vulnerable without his brothers, one-eye set up hundreds of traps around his domain to keep intruders away. he only interacted with victims that were brought to him by his family or ones already ensnared by his various traps. this is why ma surrendered baby three-toe to him, as his cabin was the safest area of the woods to raise a child while they focused on training their other two children, brother and sister.

after the rest of his family died during their fight in the paper mill, leaving baby three-toe alone with one-eye, there was no more room for cowardice. through his efforts over the years, one-eye gained the calculated brawn of saw-tooth, the sneaky and ever-confident nature of three-finger, and a very refined knowledge in traps... perhaps even enough to fend off a whole group of gritty criminals.

... and then he died 🥀💔

because he's pretty big i gave him a more concealed outfit to explain how he could still sneak around like three-finger despite not having his agility, like an assortment of hunting camo taken from victims. the hood is detachable (he's stealing brother's swag i know). i also gave him more scars/burn marks. during his death i thought it would be "cool" if the hook went through his missing eye socket instead of his forehead but i'm sorry for drawing dead one-eye...

P.S isn't it cute that one-eye and three-toe only have one functioning eye but on opposite sides?
