Mmmm no. That’s a limited view of the collective community. While trans women of color were an essential part of the movement, the involvement of drag queens in the execution of the Stonewall riots - as well as the current fascination pop culture has with drag - has furthered the fight for LGBT equality and discussion of gender identity/normatives in invaluable ways. Drag queens and trans POC have been at the heart of this movement since its inception and anyone, including members of these groups, forgetting that is unacceptable.

Stonewall was led by trans women of colour, drag queens, sex workers and homeless LGBT+ - basically they were the people the police thought would be easiest the pick on but they’d been kicked on their whole lives and they weren’t going to put up with it anymore. Stonewall was a complete turning point in the fight for LGBT+ equality and the people who implemented it were the most marginalized sector of the LGBT+ community.
