and I mean that the Life Series is always going to be a blurry line. yes it’s definitely not ‘true’ RPF because it is, to various degrees, characters but it’s also literally just a game between friends. like when you play a board game or something with friends you might be playing a game-ified version of yourself, but it’s still you. this isn’t even like the DSMP when the distinction was more pronounced considering the DSMP had scripts. (at least, certain people had scripts for certain parts. it’s been so long I can’t fully remember.)

and to be clear, this is not me saying that you shouldn’t write or make Life Series fanfic/fanart. I have actively written for this fandom and RPF is part a fandom. and also let me clarify that I also agree that the Life Series is not 100% RPF, (especially considering multiple people have put lore into their character in said series,) but it’s, like I said, way more blurry than people seem to want it to be.

and back to me saying it makes it treat the ccs poorly: I’ve noticed a general attitude in some parts of the fandom that expect past winners to give up a win for their teammates. and while this has happened before and it is sweet when it happens, that should not be expected.

like when Grian killed Gem when he thought it was just the two of them, that wasn’t a c!Grian choice like a lot of people talk about it like. Grian is just a competitive person and we’ve seen that a lot. so while in fan content we can give it more meaning and make his kill of Gem whatever we want and have whatever feelings we want attached to that, in the actual content itself it’s just a guy wanting to win a game he made for him and his friends.

I don’t know if I’m fully wording this right, but I feel like we all need to remember that the Life Series is not made to be a story. it works as a wonderful one if you want it to be, but you can’t hold the choices ccs make to this idea of narrative cohesiveness. that’s an insane thing to expect the ccs to do.

I am obsessed with the aesthetic of an evil lighthouse with a rose garden, so I drew the Villies base! With many artistic liberties taken because yeah the two layers of netherack and sandstone ain’t there yet. Take that Grian, roses CAN be scary!
