I'm very open about my 'past' as a German soldier under ww2 and will occasionally speak of my experiences and memories. I do not support nazism nor fascism. I am not a nazi. I do not support the ideals behind it or any of what was done.

I do not consider myself a reichblr blog as I will post things unrelated to it, and will rarely contribute to much. However, I will occasionally repost things from it and may use the tag when specifically speaking about topics I believe is related to/fit for that side of tumblr.

Math and science are both hard subjects for many, myself included, and I will never undermine the people good at it. I am incredibly impressed, actually. But I do agree that as someone who grew up succeeding in other subjects, it did often feel like I was seen as less intelligent, or at least the "wrong kind".

English is harder for me to speak on because I grew up in a country where it isn't the native language, so our English was more about the actual language and not what it is in for example America. And I was definitely occasionally praised for being able to speak it so well, but at some point people don't really care anymore. But then when I got older and our English classes did start actually focusing more on literature, foreign (and/or often english-speaking) politics/society and such, people around me began struggling even more and I continued to do pretty well. Yet it was seen as kind of useless. Because as long as you CAN speak/write/understand English, nobody actually cares about any skill beyond that.

They say history is easy, so it doesn't matter if someone is good at it. And yes, it can be easy to remember a couple names and say "this event happened". But high school history sucks. Literally so much of why I tried studying history in uni was because I felt I wasn't satisfied with what we learned in primary and high school. It was all so surface level. Once I got to university, I can very confidently say it gets so much harder because it starts to really focus on the how and why, the deeper things within it. And even I, someone with a massive passion for this, sometimes really struggled with certain aspects or things introduced. It's easy because nobody cares and so school teaches you the bare minimum.

It felt like I was seen as less intelligent because I couldn't wrap my head around math yet at least I know basic literature analysis and know the importance history holds. At least I'm able to hold a discussion (or do my own research, and THINK for myself, to be able to) and look above the surface of people, society, beliefs, the past, you name it. And I'm not even saying any of that is some impossibly difficult task, but I've absolutely met people incapable of such, so clearly it isn't a skill that everybody necessarily naturally has.
