oooh fun question! i think it's both of them, in a way.
i touched on this in i lied and then i came clean, but i think misha struggles with something close to jealousy when it comes to fans thinking that they're in love with ilia/ilia might want them one day. it wouldn't bother him if he could claim ilia publicly, but since he can't it drives him crazy.
as for ilia, his jealousy is also driven by the distance and the secrecy. when he sees happy couples he desperately wishes that him and misha could be public and in love and the gross pda couple, too. sometimes misha goes out with his friends and innocently texts ilia like "some girl just tried to buy me a drink lol" ilia gets jealous because he wants to buy misha drinks. he wants to be all over misha in public and dance with him and kiss him and go home with him. he wants everyone to know that they can't have misha because he does, but he can't and it drives him crazy.
Do you ever think about laterverse Ilia and Misha’s wedding night/first time as a married couple? Bc i haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since you wrote the line “Misha tries not to think about doing this to ilia while wearing a wedding ring”.
