Said Cambrian Explosion as the closest proxy for complex nervous systems emerging in the Ediacaran. I reckon once you got the basic prerequisites for a nervous system it was only a matter of time. Id put the 10% threshold even earlier, maybe as early as the emergence of multicellular life or even eukaryotes, but im not sure how inevitable a nervous system was—it seems to have only happened once after all, and there are basic sense feedback loops in eg plants that make me think the evolutionary pressure to environmental reactivity can dead end in many places that don’t have room to develop more sophisticated sensory architecture.
