synopsis. lohen thinks you've been overworking yourself lately. one day, he decides that enough is enough.
— content. no sex but incredibly intimate + suggestive yes the massage is that good . minor sadist/masochistic dynamics (lohen and reader are implied freaks), nudity, slighttt yandere-adjacent thoughts, all consensual!
— notes. 1.6k words, i blacked out and woke up to this being written what the hellll (girl did not proofread) 😂😂😂 this aint me . art credits: @/hoooooon1099 on x!
"... You could be a little more gentle with it, y'know."
The rope tightens at your wrists, binding them together with one skillful knot, and you can't help but wince.
A hum escapes Lohen's lips.
"Sorry, sorry," he breathes, his fingers loosening up the rope at the slip in your wrists, just enough to ease the burn. He really is sorry — as much as he loves to see you squirm, putting you in more pain than you find enjoyable isn't something that gets him going, but …
His eyes trail up to your bare back, skin highlighted against the rising moon. The curve of your breasts and stomach sunken into the sheets, your face pressed against the pillow, looking up at him with half-lidded eyes. Akin to a wounded deer in a hunter's trap.
(You're exactly where you want to be.
Lohen stifles the urge to swallow you completely.)
"I just … got excited." He mutters, voice uneven, fingers tying the knot one last time.
A whine escapes your lips again, more embarrassed this time — puffed with indignation.
"Ah, don't be so impolite." He scolds, giving the knot a small tap, "You did this to yourself, you know."
Another whine, followed by an attempt to kick him away. He placates your attack all too easily, crawling to sit at your thighs, fingers running along your arm.
You've been working far too hard for his liking lately, practically slaving away under Varka's iron fist like a horse dragging a wagon, perpetually serving under the heel of your city. Hell, even as radiant as you look now, the moonlight only accentuates the bags under your eyes from paperwork, and welts forming on your forearms and back from training for the practical exam.
(The audacity for someone else to even think about bruising you is enough to make his blood boil.
That job is his and his alone.)
And you deserve better than to be working yourself to the bone like this. You're too eager to please the Grandmaster, he thinks, too hungry for the title of a knight that it clouds your mind, pulling your attention away from what really matters to serve a drunk seen in Angel's Share more than his own office.
So he decided to take matters into his own hands. Force you to have the tender loving care you know you deserve but won't take for whatever reason, from the only person who could give it to you correctly.
Well. As tender as Lohen can be, anyways.
"Didn't know you were going to attack me in my own bed." You grumble, head sinking into the pillow with a pout on your lips, "Jeez, babe, you — ah—"
His fingers press into the divots between your spine and the inner edge of your scapulae, feeling your shudder underneath his touch. His teeth press against his lips, knuckles sinking into the dense knots in your back impulsively, a shaky groan jerking from your throat.
"Aww," he croons, "Too much for you?"
You don't answer him, your chest feeling unbearably warm both from the embarrassment and the feeling of his hands on you. The dull ache in the back of your trapezius begins to disappear, months of work falling to relief to Lohen's fingers.
It's an intoxicating friction, the type that pulls you away from your worries about tomorrow, the type that sinks you deeper into him.
His thumbs at the ridges of your shoulder blade, dragging rigid circles at the bone and muscle until the lattice of stress releases underneath him, and he gets to start all over again — on the deltoids of your shoulders, edges of your ribs, reaching under your tied-up hands to get the obliques on your lower back.
(The pain is sharp, barren relief hidden inside of it. His fingers feel foreign, more methodical than he usually is, like the handle to a sharp knife, prodding past your skin and flesh to reach something deeper, suppressed hunger gnashing for more of you.
But it's good. He always is.)
Lohen doesn't show affection easily. It's something that got messed up in his childhood along with everything else, he can't act like a lovesick mutt like Varka nor a stoic gentleman like Diluc, but he does love you. He loves you enough to tie you up to get you to relent to feeling good for yourself for once, loves you enough to break down that pesky hyperdiligence of yours.
And you did need this — he knows your schedule both off and on training, he knows you haven't had an ounce of free time for anything else besides him, knows you haven't been sleeping or eating well. Lohen knows everything about you (loves everything about you), and you've been a fool to try to hide it from him.
Your body twitches underneath him as he works at your knots, nails pressing into your palms, low groan and gasps as you writhe like candy in his ears.
His lips press together from the way his body reacts, the way blood rushes down with every moan, the way his pants tighten as your ass pushes up against him.
Lohen hisses.
"Y—you're doing this on purpose?"
Your eyes squeeze shut, shaking your head 'no' emphatically, lips smearing against the velvet plush of your pillow.
He curses. This is about you feeling good; his own physical wants have no reason to be acted on. He jabs into a spot he hasn't touched yet, earning a garbled yelp from you before continuing on.
It's the knight in him — the part that wanted to join the Knights of Favonius before he became as twisted as he is — the need to care for you, keep you safe forever. You're both knights in practice, and both of you could practice a little bit of self-restraint for tonight.
Eventually, Lohen's movements slow. He's certain he's taken care of every part of your body at this point, paying extra attention to the soles of your feet so they'll be able to carry you tomorrow, to the muscle that pulls your shoulders back so you'll be able to fight properly.
And you're just so beautiful. Like the cobblestone walls of the city under the heat of the sun, his heart can't help but want to burn under your gaze. He'd do it happily, he thinks. No use preserving something you seem so keen on making yours.
So he can't help but stare with bated breath at the shaky exhale you take to recover from the assault of how good everything feels. It's been long enough that the moon highlights a different part of your face — eyelashes fluttering, the scent of eucalyptus and dew right outside your window, eyes bleary with tears.
(A fray edge of the rope finds itself clasped between your fingers. A loose edge — you could escape any time you wanted to, if you truly desired to.)
Your voice comes out as a whisper.
"Please, stop staring."
It's all your fault. All your damn fault, he repeats in his head like a mantra, that he's like this.
"Never." He cobbles the word out through gritted teeth, his fingers digging into the fat at your waist.
Your eyes squeeze shut again, taking a deep breath of the fresh air that was denied to you minutes ago. He'd be content to stare at you forever like this, stuck in time posed like a beast over its prey, locked in an eternal state of—
A grunt escapes his lips as his world gets turned upside down. Literally.
When Lohen opens his eyes again, you're straddling his hips, rope in hand. A beat of excitement stops his heart for a moment before it comes back in full force, the notion of you on top of him kindred to something dangerous.
"You were thinking of something weird, weren't you?" You mumble, your torso slowly falling to his, burrowing your face into his neck. "Freak."
Radiant, more than the sun could ever be. You're so bright, a guiding angel that came to him, someone he would follow until his knees broke — a broken moan slips from his throat unintentionally when your bruised lips brush against his collarbone. He feels your tongue lick at the skin, teeth scrape as if you could reach the bone, acting as if you might devour him. Your muscles feel more refreshed than ever; you might as well put them to good use.
It's the knight in you— the part that wanted someone to devote your life to — to kiss a bloodstained hand if it's his, to embrace whatever shadows come with the man you love. And who's to say a knight can't be greedy sometimes?
"Let me take care of you, Lohen."
Your voice feels warm on his skin, feverish as your head dips lower, nuzzling at the heat between his legs.
"A—ah—"
Perhaps it'll be okay if time passes afterall, he thinks. Maybe there are multiple poses he'd like to be in with you under the dim light of the moon. Defined by the quiet rustle of the sheets, Lohen yields his idea of strength to you, just for the night.
And maybe the morning too.
…
Your exam starts at 11, right? Plenty of time.
hi he's like okay i guess . i don't care about him

summary — lohen wasn't used to romantic customs. bringing you a gift everyday was bound to be the surefire way to your heart…right?
themes — fluff and humor, developing relationship, librarian!reader, flustered!lohen, first kiss, confessing feelings, gift giving, kind of a lohen can’t communicate spinoff idea i suppose
WC: 1.3k
As far as Lohen was concerned, gift giving was (probably) the best way to a woman’s heart. Picking the gifts was no concern, but figuring out when to give them was certainly proving to be a challenge.
“Oh,” you said, your eyes wide. “Is that for me?”
“Yeah,” he answered. “What, you don’t want it?”
“Oh, no, I do,” you sputtered, your eyes flicking between his face and his hands. “I’m just wondering what the occasion is?”
“Occasion?”
“Uh, well.” Your hands curled around the gift box as you spoke. “It’s just, you…just gave me something yesterday. And the day before that too. So I was wondering…if something special is happening? Oh, but please don’t get me wrong. I’m not ungrateful!”
The way you shook your head and looked at him with clear concern in your eyes gave him goosebumps. Rubbing the back of his neck, Lohen turned his gaze to the wall. His face was warming up again, and even with the use of his cryo vision, he couldn’t fully contain it. He wracked his mind for an answer to your question, but found none.
He couldn’t just up and tell you that he liked you. What if you thought he was weird? If you shot him down, he’d probably want to die right then and there.
“I just,” he sputtered, “thought you might like it. You, uh…you like reading stuff, right? I was just out and about and I saw a book stand thing, so…”
“Oh, is that what’s in here?” You smiled from ear-to-ear, wrecking his nervous system. “Thank you, Lohen. You’re so sweet.”
He laughed awkwardly, feeling the pound of his heart against his rib cage. Words trickled out of his mouth like an uncontrollable stream.
“Pft, it’s not…I mean, it’s not really…not like it’s a big deal or anything. Calling a guy like me sweet is one hell of a decision.”
“A guy like you?” You raised an eyebrow, but your smile remained. “Is there something about you that makes you unworthy of being called sweet?”
“I mean,” he stammered, “I’m kind of. I kill things. A lot of things. And I like it.”
“So…you like your job. I like mine, too.”
“Huh.” Lohen’s tense shoulders fell slack, his eyes blinking. “You know, I never really thought about it that way.”
You giggled. He winced, feeling awfully embarrassed all over again.
“Well, I got you something too,” you said. “I wasn’t sure when to give it to you, but…I think now would be a good time.”
He blinked. “You…got me something?”
“Of course. I can’t just take all your gifts without giving you something in return.” You rummaged through your cedar-topped desk, eventually withdrawing a box wrapped in cute, mint-green paper. Turning to face him with a big smile, you said, “Here.”
To say he hadn’t been expecting this would be an understatement. The box wasn’t light or heavy, but rather something in between that shrouded it in mystery. It rattled when you passed it to him, and with a bewildered glance between you and the gift in his hands, he immediately said, “You didn’t have to give me anything back. It’s not like it’s my birthday or anything.”
“It’s not mine either,” you laughed. “But you keep bringing me gifts anyway. Just open it, won’t you?”
He supposed you had a point. When he ripped away the green paper, he was presented with a hand-crafted wooden box with a latch on it. Opening that latch revealed an assortment of items—fine cloths, maintenance oil, little nylon brushes, and a stone-forged blade sharpener.
His jaw dropped. “A knife maintenance set.”
“Mhm. You’re always spinning that dagger of yours around, so I thought it might be useful.”
“You’re so freakin’ observant,” he said breathlessly. “I wanna marry you.”
Silence fell between you both. Your eyes were wide, as were his, and as the tension between you grew hotter and hotter, Lohen whirled on his heel. Eyes wide and ears burning red hot, he stammered, “Woah, what was that? Must have been the wind! Anyway, I gotta get to work, so—!”
“Wait.”
Your hand curled into the end of his cape, stopping him in his tracks. When he turned back around, you were smiling with your head lowered towards the fabric between your fingers. As you played your thumb along the blue silk, you murmured, “That was really sweet of you to say.”
“Oh. Uh, well.” He cleared his throat. “Does that mean you, uh…you liked it?”
Your eyes rose to his, the smile on your face wringing his throat tighter than the choker around his neck. You stepped a touch closer, Lohen’s eyes blew wide, and with the most gentle of movements, you kissed his cheek.
Immediately, he felt as though he was consumed by a raging storm of pyro. Stammering, gasping a little, and feeling his arm tremble like the present in his hand weighed a thousand pounds, Lohen felt like death was on the horizon. But even if he did end up dying right in front of you, he wouldn’t have regretted it for a second, because sweet Barbatos—was that kiss of yours so worth it.
“It’s a little soon to get married,” you said with a giggle, bringing him back to reality. “But I wouldn’t mind going on a date with you, Vice Captain.”
“Holy shit,” he said, his eyes wide. “You mean it?”
You grinned with your teeth. When you nodded, his knees felt weak.
“I really like you,” he blurted. “You’re really pretty and you always smell like flowers.”
You dropped your gaze from his, giggling so infectiously, he couldn’t resist a smile. Wringing his cape in your hand, you said, “Thank you. I really like you too, Lohen. I know people think you're scary, but…you’re always so kind to me. I really appreciate that.”
You looked at him again, smiling so fondly that he wanted to know what it felt like against his skin. He opened his mouth, his gaze trained on your lips, but he couldn’t manage the words.
“You want a kiss?” you asked inquisitively.
“God,” he sighed, “I love how you can always read my mind, Bunny.”
“I wouldn’t say always,” you laughed. “It was just a hunch.”
You lifted your hand to his burning hot cheek. When your lips pressed to his, Lohen’s eyes squeezed shut, his hands grasping the knife maintenance kit between them like it was his last anchor to the mortal world. You pulled away as quickly as you came, and when Lohen’s eyes fluttered back open, you smiled.
“That felt really good,” he said, blinking rapidly. “The only girl I’ve ever kissed on the mouth is my mom.”
You laughed, and he immediately stiffened up. Smiling still, he closed eyes and said, “Yeah, I’m not very good at this.”
“It’s okay. The only man I’ve ever kissed on the mouth is you.”
Lohen’s heart skipped a beat. “…Really?”
“My family’s not very affectionate,” you explained. “I’m lucky if I can even get a hug.”
“I’ll give you a hug,” he said immediately. “I mean, I will if you want one.”
You lifted your fist to your smiling mouth. “You know what? I think that’d make a nice gift for next time, Vice Captain.”
“I can give you more than one gift on the same day,” he answered chipperly. “We don’t need any occasions or anything, right?”
“Right.” You giggled. “Well, then. When should I expect my next present?”
He dug his teeth into his lower lip, giggling cheekily. Sliding his gift onto your wooden desk, he crooned, “I’ll give it to you right now, Bunny.”
His arms looped around you, yours looped around him, and as your delighted laughter filled the library, Lohen knew that Celestia was a place on Teyvat.

⟡ | abstract: just along the western borders of mondstat’s dornman port, lies a forest that encapsulates the surrounding landscape in darkness. inside, lives the tale of monsters and vampires. however, when one young vampire decides to leave the forest, little did they know the consequences of meeting a fearsome, sadist vice captain.
⟡ | warnings: PG-16 themes, minors DNI pls (can’t stop you from reading but i don’t want/need to know that), fem!reader, 3rd person pov, biting but no biting... yet, mentions of violence, first part in a series, no smut but we’ll get there i promise.
vampires, a tale of monstrous figures that look human, act like humans, and talk like humans, that most in teyat didn't believe in. there were light novels published about them; however, most didn't question their existance beyond fiction or legends.
however, they were very real. in a forest just west of dornman port and east of fontaine, lie a forest of dense trees, that too whoever dared venture into it described it as ever-encapsulating darkness. "alucardia's domain" was what it was called in mondstat, however, each nation adjacent to it had different names and tales related to the forest. reports stated that even in the summer months, little light aside from the bioluminescent plant life is seen. with that, tales from adventurers who went in and miraculously came back told stories of the feeling of constantly being watched. some detailed seeing eyes in the forest, thinking it was a beast. however, there were few animals, only bats and other smaller animals that adapted to the 24/7 darkness.
it formed a deep legend around the forest, and it was off limits as the ratio of returning adventurers to total victims rises every year. the mere mention of the forest sent kids running, and most who lived close to the border had limited interactions with it for the sole reason of not wanting to fuck around and find out. only those stupid brave enough would go in on a whim…
as lohen flipped through one of his reports (surprisingly), his eyes caught the title of a report stating the sighting of a strange girl emerging from the border of alucardia’s domain, only to seem in pain and rush back into the forest after attempting to stand in the sunlight. his eyes narrowed at the report, a smirk appearing on his face.
"how interesting..."
one thing lohen knew is that vampires were, in fact, real. when he was young, he had an encounter with one. a small vampire, but the haunting expression in her red eyes and sharp canines he saw could not have been more inhuman, even as she took the form of a harmless child.
the series of events occurred when he got into a truth-or-dare match, and one of the children had dared lohen to enter the forest. as lohen proudly stated that he was no chicken, he and the other children headed to the edge of the forest, gazing into the pitch-black domain.
lohen hesitated for a moment, but he would rather die than be seen as weak. he held his bow tight as he walked into the forest, the light and taunting becoming more distant with each step. he gulped slightly, feeling the uneasy feeling of dread the place seemed to ooze. the forest was silent; there was no breeze to move the branches, and only the occasional sound of bat wings flapping could be heard. the grass beneath him seemed to glow a faint red with every step, fading as soon as his boot moved on.
now he understood why adventurers never stepped foot into this forest, while he didn't sense any immediate danger, it was the silence that heightened his senses and made him completely on edge.
as he made his way into the forest, he honestly felt like even though he had only moved in a straight line, he was lost. everywhere looked the same… dark and uninviting. he gripped the bow tighter as he gazed off into the distance, seeing what seemed to be a small red seelie. it looked more like a bat than the ones he was used to seeing, but it was unmistakably looking at him. he walked towards it, wondering where it would lead him. he may have already won the bet, but this was far too interesting not to continue, plus his parents always said following a seelie leads to good luck.
the seelie turned and started gliding deeper into the forest, forcing lohen sprint after it, jumping over roots and dodging low-hanging branches.
"wait up!" lohen yelled, slicing a branch in order to keep up. he was soon met with a wall of rocks and vines as the bat seelie stopped in front of it. he raised an eyebrow at the seelie, confused. the seelie seemed to nudge it's head towards the particularly thick patch of vines before dissipating into a statue beside him.
he looked forwards at the vines, rolling his eyes and pulling back the curtain of vines. stepping into the hidden grove as his eyes looked up to take in his surroundings.
play for ambiance~
what he saw next would stick with him for the next 10 years.
in a grove of multiple bat seelies, red spider lily-like flowers, regular bats, and what seemed like fireflies framed the figure in the center.
she sat atop a log, eyes staring directly at him. her mouth was slightly agape as he saw the shimmer of her sharp canines in the soft glow of the fireflies. her eyes seemed to beam in the dark light, staring right into his very being.
lohen was taken aback to see some... girl who looked around his age in the forest that was described as nightmare fuel. their eyes seemed to be intertwined in some kind of staring match, where he felt that her eyes only became brighter and bigger the longer he stared. his brain could barely keep up with what was happening, but unconsciously his grip tightened around his bow, pulling it closer to his body.
however, when he tried to take even just one step towards her, she was gone in an instant. the only thing she left behind was the gust of wind that almost knocked lohen off his balance (not because it was fairly strong; he was just in a state of shock... yeah right...).
his head whipped around as the vines fell back to its original state after she burst through them. he rushed after her, but once he was out of the grove, darkness was all that he could see, aside from the feint glow of the seelie that led him here.
he grunted, looking around but finding not even a set of footprints to follow except his own.
"stupid forest... playing tricks on me... *tsk* whatever..." he said as he followed his footprints back, grumbling at the stupid seelie, stupid dare, and stupid forest.
once he emerged from the forest, he covered his eyes from the sheer difference in light as he noticed the group of boys was missing, putting him in an even more sour mood.
once he found his way back home, he said nothing of it to anyone over the years. however, he questioned what he saw everyday and sometimes patrolling around the area of the border, but never going in. wondering who that girl was… or what that girl was.
fast forward to the present, lohen eagerly grabbed his polearm, checked to see if his knife was in place, checked to see if his hair was in place, and ran down the stairs of the knight’s headquarters.
“oh vice captain lohen! are you free, i have an important commis—“ “sorry jean! gotta go!” lohen interrupted her and slammed through the front doors, disappearing from jean’s sight faster than he entered it.
“what’s gotten him so riled up?” lisa states from behind jean as she sighs.
“who knows, but hopefully i won’t receive a report on my desk later because of it.” jean said, defeated.
lisa patted her shoulder sympathetically before leading her off to another job.

lohen had never run so fast in his life. his heart pounding in his chest as he ran THE ENTIRE WAY TO DORNMAN PORT FROM THE KNIGHT’S HEADQUARTERS. the fellow travelers on the path being passed by a bolting lohen questioned what just happened.
lohen reaches his destination so fast that varka would have likely been impressed by his dedication. lohen realized however, as soon as he stepped into the familiar port, that he had only read part of the report. he didn’t know what part of the forest she appeared from, where she went after, or who actually saw her.
whoops… guess he got too excited…
he grunts heavily, looking around the port to find his fellow knights. hopefully one of them was the one who made the report right… or was there when they saw her.
he walked along the port, talking to multiple knights about her. the first few didn’t know what he was talking about, the later few said they had only heard about a “strange lady” coming from the forest a few days ago from others. however, the 7th time apparently was the charm as this knight seemed to tense up at the question.
“i-i did see her, i was with a few others on our normal patrol. it was just up that hill when we saw her, it was only for a moment though. she appeared from behind one of the trees in front of us. she poked her head from behind the trunk, stared at us and then stuck out her hand to where the sun was shining, but she pulled it back as soon as the sun hit her skin. after that, she looked at us one more time with this expression of discomfort before running off crazy fast into the forest. really weird gal. hope she’s okay. we tried calling out to her, but she ran off into alucardia’s domain and we wouldn’t dare go in there.” the knight yaps, but lohen genuinely listens. his eyes staring at the knight, categorizing the intel.
“why do you ask vice captain? i figured this would be the least of your interests…” the knight asks, raising his eyebrow. lohen didn’t answer for a moment, staring off into the distance after the knight stopped talking. he looked up at the man, completely oblivious to what he asked.
“huh? yeah yeah, thanks for the intel, byeeeee” lohen says, turns around, and starts bolting away towards the forest line. he remembered the exact spot where he went in all those years ago, figuring it was the best place to start since it was in the area of their sighting.
he walked up to the spot, reminiscing in the few times he had come back to this spot, even if all he did was stare into the forest, hoping maybe she was watching him from in the forest.
little did he know of the little vampire hiding in the tree’s branches each of those visits after their first meeting, looking down on the knight as the years past and she watched him grow.
present lohen once again stood at the edge, squinting his eyes to scout out the area inbetween the two regions. when he saw nothing, he sighed, pulling out a torch from his bag and sparking a flint and steal to light it. he held it up as he began his trek into the forest. the torch lit up the trees, and now he could notice that the trunks of the trees varied, but most of them were thin and he could see much further into the darkness.
he was no longer the nervous boy who faked being fearless he was 10 years ago however. now he was a vice captain who had experienced far worse. he set on, searching for any signs of life.
⋆﹒༚𓂃⊹ ࣪ ˖
her eyes locked in on his aura the instant she felt his presence in the forest. she quickly rushed to the area he entered and sat atop the trees, gliding silently through the trees as she stalked him. she stayed further back as to not get caught in the light of the torch, but her eyes never left him, the curiosity in her growing.
⋆﹒༚𓂃⊹ ࣪ ˖
lohen could tell he was being watched. by what exactly? he hoped it was her, but he figured it wouldn’t be that easily. he summoned his polearm in his other hand as he continued forward. towards the grove that he hadn’t been to in over 10 years.
he never could bring himself to actually go into the forest before everything happened in the past 10 years, but now he was ready. he’s faced much tougher terrains than this place in nod-krai.
it didn’t take him very long before spotting a soft red glow in the distance, using the cape in order to cover the torch’s light for a better look. he deduced that it was potentially the seelie from all those years ago, and headed in the direction of the strange glow.
his eyes kept darting to the tree tops as he trekked on, the feeling of being watch following him as he went further.
he reached the strange glowing orb and confirmed that it was indeed the one he followed. turning his head he saw the familiar vine wall. well at least he didn’t hallucinate this part, he thought to himself.
he tried to pull at the vines, but they were much thicker than before. almost as if they were sealed shut. he groaned before raising his polearm and slashing through the vines. the vines cutting and falling to the ground. he looked inside to see the grove inside. the log where she originally sat was empty, but instead of turning around, he stepped over the pile of vines and into the grove.
he walked towards the small enclosed grove that was surrounded by stone walls decorated in little caves and overgrown with vines. he scoffs at the empty space. of course it wouldn’t be that easy.
he turns to leave, but his head snapped to the sound of the vines growing back quickly and sealing off the entrance. his eyebrow raised as he walked up to it and found it to have completely regenerated.
“should have expected there was some kind of curse on this place…” he says before bringing his polearm to cut the vines. however, instead of cutting them, his weapon bounced right back, not leaving a dent. he tsk’s at the situation before turning back towards the grove and noticing the cliffs above having a clear climbing route to get out.
he walked over towards the wall, when all of a sudden a flash of a dark figure appears in front of his torch’s glow. a moment later he stills as he feels two sharp points against his neck.
he sucked in a quick breath as he felt someone’s hands on his biceps. when lohen felt the air blown on the back of his neck, he shivered for a moment before realizing what was against his neck, a devilish smirk appearing on his face.

When you told Lohen you wanted to go exploring with him, he was enthralled. A chance to fight whatever monster crossed his path with you at his side sounded like the perfect way to spend his day off—a little bit of fighting, a little bit of flirting, and a whole lot of showing off for you.
He wasn’t exactly expecting you to want to pick up every local specialty, though.
“Can you use your vision on this flower for me?” you asked. “I think it’d be pretty if I pressed it.”
“Uh…sure,” he answered, the corner of his grin twitching. “Are we gonna go after this?”
With a brush of his ice-tipped spear, the burning flower was extinguished. You clapped like it was a magic trick, sending a touch of warmth to his cheeks. As you plucked the flower from the grass, you smiled and said, “We’re not in a rush, are we?”
“No, we’re not, but..” He awkwardly cleared his throat. “We’ve kinda been here for half an hour already. I’m running out of bag space for your flowers, Bun.”
“What? We picked that many?”
“You picked that many,” he said with a snort. “I don’t mind frolicking around with you, but I was kinda hoping I’d get to show you the fun parts of being an adventurer! Like, the killing and stabbing parts.”
“Oh…I’m sorry,” you answered, your gaze falling to your feet. “I didn’t realize I was boring you.”
“Huh? No, no, no.” He took your hands in his, giving them a firm squeeze. When you looked up at him, he gave you a toothy grin. “I’m never bored when I’m with you, Bun. I promise.”
Your face lit up with a smile. Content with the change in your demeanor, Lohen said, “I just think it’d be nice if we went to clean up some hilichurl camps or something! You can even use my dagger, if you want. Oh, or how about the mini-crossbow I made you? I’ve got it in my pack still.”
Your smile turned to a grimace. “I think I’ll leave the hilichurl stabbing to you, Lohen. And don’t tell me that crossbow thing is the reason you’re out of space for my flowers.”
He guiltily averted his gaze. “You gotta learn how to defend yourself somehow. If you won’t use your vision, then use a weapon at least!”
“I prefer a catalyst,” you said, “but even then, I prefer not fighting to begin with. It’s not like I face any danger working in the library.”
“Oh, but what if you did?” He pulled you closer, shaking his head. “Imagine a group of pyro slimes slipping into HQ, and into your precious library! How are you gonna protect your books if you can’t fight?”
“In what world would pyro slimes make it all the way into Mondstadt, past decorated knights, and into the library…?”
“Fuck, Bun—you’re smart, and I love that about you, but you’re too practical. Just imagine it! What would you do?”
“Well…” You blinked up at him. “I’d probably go looking for you.”
Your words made his heart skip a beat. Narrowing his eyes at you, he aggressively whispered, “You’re so fuckin’ cute, I can’t stand it. Come here.”
He pulled you forward, pressing kiss after kiss to your cheek as you laughed before him. His hands rose to your face, squishing your soft cheeks together before he pressed a flurry of kisses to your grinning lips. The way you giggled gave him sweet chills, his heart filled with adoration for you. In the midst of his onslaught of affection, he murmured, “I’m still gonna teach you how to fight.”
“Okay,” you answered with a laugh. “But I want to use my catalyst.”
“Fighting from afar…I like it.” With one more big, wet kiss to your mouth, Lohen let out a drawn out, “Mmmwah.”
You grinned at him. Satisfied, Lohen stroked his thumbs over your cheekbones.
“Here’s what I think,” he said. “We walk up on a hilichurl camp, I go in first, and you support me from the back. Sounds pretty easy, right?”
“I guess it sounds better than me stabbing them.”
“Exactly.” He grinned. “I wanna see you use some magic, pretty girl.”
You snorted. “If you want me to, then I’ll try. No guarantees I’m actually good at it, though.”
“No one’s good at anything on the first try. I’ll be happy just knowing you at least gave it some effort.”
“Hm. Well, then I’ll give it my very best.”
Lohen giggled, pulling your face a touch closer. As he beamed at you, he murmured, “Actually, you’re so cute that I almost wanna just take you back home.”
“Huh?” You blinked rapidly, but your smile remained. “What about adventuring, though?”
“I can show you a different kind of adventure.”
“Has anyone ever told you that you’re incredibly wishy-washy?”
“Oh yeah,” he purred. “You tell me, like, every two hours.”
He dove into your lips for a chaste peck, and with a happy laugh, you leaned back into him for one more. Kissing one another in the grassy outskirts of Mondstadt, Lohen thought to himself that the real treasure at the end of the journey was you.
a/n: teehee, i thought to myself, how can lohen encourage his girlfriend to use her vision? xD he seems like he'd want her to learn some self-defense, so i wrote this drabble~

⟡ | abstract: war is over, and while the battle caused a hurt that will take generations to heal, sometimes finding a quiet moment with your lover can start the process.
⟡ | notes/warnings: 18+, sfw but minors dni, comfort fic, descriptions of the natlan war, natlan archon quest spoilers, author hasn’t written in years (but glad to be back)
the abyssal war took something precious from everyone and everything in natlan. some lost more than others, but the entire nation felt the impact of the abyss’s mass invasion. even as a vision user, you yourself felt it most in the injuries you incurred from a fight against several waves of monsters.
the deep gash in your side had been the most annoying. if kinich hadn’t found you in time… well you don’t know if you would be here currently.
even after the dismissal of the abyssal forces, it was hard to go back to… “normal.” each day was a battle that involved no fighting. not being physically able to help in the rebuilding of your tribe was the worst part. that desire to help was overwhelming, all while your fellow tribe members begged you to just sit down for more than five minutes.
kinich was the harshest in trying to get you to relax. in between being a messenger, one of the six natlan heroes, rebuilding his tribe, and helping to support the traveler in the next steps, he always made time to come see you. he brought you meals that mulalani and kachina made, helped restitch your wounds when you reopened it (it happened at least three times in one week...), and even had helped you bathe the first two weeks after the war. that part was embarrassing… but not because he made you uncomfortable.
kinich, while not being the most verbally affectionate, showed you love through his actions. it was one of the many reasons you fell for him, and why you continue to stand by his side no matter how dangerous a situation got. till death do you part (you weren’t married… yet).
although you might consider proposing after his latest visit.
careful amber and emerald eyes look at your wound as a small hiss leaves your mouth when a cloth soaked in alcohol hits your skin.
“sorry.” he simply says, applying gentle but precise pressure to hurry it along. you sigh and shake your head.
“it’s alright. i just wish this would heal faster. i’m tired of being cooped up in here. i need fresh air and to move around.” you say, avoiding his gaze as he looks at you. he contemplates something in his mind before returning to clean your wound.
“well maybe if you didn’t always try to help out so much around here and actually rested, your wound would be healed more.” he said simply, making you sulk as you knew he was right.
“UGH, you measly human! if only you were more like me, the great dragon lord k’uhal ajaw, you wouldn’t be so weak and require my servant to care for you!” suddenly an agitating, grating voice is heard in form of ajaw. you can see kinich expression sour as his companion makes his presence known.
“i guess you’re right ajaw, maybe the great dragon lord will give me advice so next time i won’t fall so easily in battle?” you say, smiling at ajaw as his jaw drops. usually he was used to backtalk, especially with paimon, but to outright hear he was right?
“AHA! you measly human! i shall take on your request! as the great dragon lord—HEY! KINICHHHhhhhh….” “be quiet already you’re giving me a headache.” Kinich interrupts as he sends him flying out the window team rocket style.
you giggle at the action, looking at him. he doesn’t say anything more and quickly finishes up what he was doing.
“there, it shouldn’t get infected now, but you need to be more careful ____.” he says genuinely, looking into your eyes. you lower your head and sigh.
“okay fine…” you admit in defeat, dreading the days to come of strict bed rest that you know he will inform your tribe of to make sure you adhere to it.
“but… that doesn’t mean we can’t go out for a picnic?” he suggests after a moment, looking at you with an almost shy gaze.
a date huh? yeah that’ll be perfect…
“oh~ you intrigue me so! can we do it where we used to... before the war?” you asked, blinking your eyelashes up at him in a begging manner. he sighed, knowing that path should be reserved to when you’re fully healed, but he could arrange for something.
“fine, but i have a few things to do these next few days, so that’ll give me some time to prepare. i’ll come get you when i’m ready, okay?” he asks, sitting closely to you on your bed, grasping your hand.
you nod, looking down at your interlocked hands.
“that’s fine, i know you’re busy so don’t trouble yourself for me… more than you already do…” you say, smiling softly. he smiles back, reaching over to grasp your chin and turn your face to his own.
he leans in and softly presses a kiss to your lips, its brief, but everything kinich does is purposeful. you try to linger once longer, but he pulls back to press a final kiss to your forehead.
“you’re not trouble, you’re just too passionate sometimes it leads you into trouble. that’s something i admire and worry about constantly with you. i’ll be back in a few days. be safe and rest.” he says the last part sternly, and you laugh softly at it. he smiles and stands up, squeezing your hand once more.

the next few days mostly consist of you being constrained to your bed, aside from the daily walk accompanied by one of your relatives. it seems that kinich spread word to everyone that you were to rest, as when you offer to even do a small task, you are shooed away and told to rest.
damn it kinich…
but the fourth day brought about a surprise. you were lying in bed, reading over some scrolls that ororon had brought as a means to help distract you, when a commotion was heard outside. you at first paid it no mind, but as you heard a child yell “kinich is back!” you instantly shot up. he didn’t even send you a message he was coming! and you had no time to make yourself look approachable before he was knocking on the door.
“___?” he states as he’s about to come in, but you hop out of bed and slam it shut in his face.
“wait! i’m not ready! give me like… 5 minutes…” you say, hearing him sigh on the other side.
“alright, but if you leap up from your bed just to shut the door in my face, i’m coming in regardless of if your five minutes is up.” shit, he knew you too well, but you just decide to not answer him and quickly put yourself together.
as the five minutes passed, kinich opened the door, covering his eyes and closing it. “are you decent?” he asks, ever the gentleman.
you had just finished brushing your hair and teeth, so you nod, but realize he can’t see you. “yeah i’m decent.”
he opens his eyes and immediately lock on you at your vanity. he walks over to you and leans down to press a kiss to your temple.
“i’m glad to hear you’ve been resting these past few days. how are you feeling?” he says, resting his chin on the top of your head and looking down at you in the small mirror.
“it’s better now, i can move around without severe pain, but it’s still sensitive. no one in the village would even let me get my own groceries…” you sighed, hating how you had to lean on others.
he noticed your somber gaze and laid his arms around your shoulders and brought you back against him, sandwiching the back of your chair between your back and his chest.
“i know you don’t like being coddled, but you’re a hero of natlan and your tribe. they want to repay your deeds to them, and now it’s time for me to give my gift to my hero.” he said, and you can see how his lips pull into a small smile in the mirror.
“corny…” you whisper, but a small flustered blush comes to hue your cheeks. “you were the one who saved me, if anything i should be doing something for you.”
“is it so bad that your partner wants to give you a picnic date after we just literally went through hell and back?” he says, smirking gently at you.
“n-no… it’s just… whatever. i’m ready now, how are we getting there?”
that question brought kinich to smile. he pulls back from you, the warmth depleting from your back as he holds out his hand.
“why don’t we go see?” you stare at him, a smile on your face but questioning the sudden mystery.
“okay?” your hand places atop his own and he pulls you from the seat and out the front door.
your eyes look around, not knowing what to expect, but suddenly kinich whistles and a yumkasaurus comes running around the corner. kinich brings out his dendro bungee ropes and wrangles up the saurian easily. as a hunter it makes sense why it was so easy for him, but it was kinda hot to see…
he guides the saurian over to you and motions for it to bend down, once it's secure, he hops off and gently helps you onto the saurian. "careful," he softly says as he notices you wince from the stretch.
he hops behind you, caging you in between him and the head of the saurian. he scoots up closer, his legs and back pressed against you. even when you’ve been intimate in the past, it was always easy for him to make you flustered.
“hold on,” he says in your ear as you gently grab the fluff of the neck and pat the side of the saurian’s neck, earning a coo.
kinich begins the ride as you watch the tribe fade from view and the familiar clifftop come into sight. you lean back into kinich’s grasp as he sucks in a quiet breath.
the clifftop adorned with a picnic basket and blanket come into view as the saurian comes to a halt. kinich gets off and helps you off as well, but doesn’t let go of your hand once you’re safely on the ground.
he pats the saurian’s side and it walks off, going to find something to eat. kinich turns to you and guides you both over to the blanket. you smile softly at the view, gazing around at the familiar landscape, but your eyes catch the aftermath of the war. battlefields you found yourself fighting at, ones that kinich had to bounce between, and the ones you and your nation lost so much at. it made your heart grow somber.
he noticed your gaze and reached out to grasp your chin and make you look at him.
“i know it may be hard to admit it… but the war's over. now, you can rest and enjoy this moment.” he says simply, he never really was one for comforting words, but he always meant what he said, and in moments like this, it was honestly better.
your frown disappeared as you looked at him, and your gaze softened at his face. he meets your eyes for a moment before turning away, trying to hide the small blush appearing on his cheeks.
“you know i’m not.. great with cooking, so i did have a bit of help. i just wanted to give you a peaceful break after forcing you to stay at home alone.” he sounded guilty, like it was his fault. i mean… it was, but it was with good intentions!
you chuckled slightly, reaching your hand out to pat the top of his head. he closed his eyes as a faint blush appeared on his cheeks. he didn’t usually like physical touch, but you were the exception.
“well despite whoever made this food, you still made all of this happen. you always help me out of a dark place kinich… and i think that’s why i fell in love with you…” you confessed, looking at his face with longing in your eyes.
he met your gaze, and quickly pulled you into an embrace. a small gasp escaped you, but you quickly wrap your arms around him, hugging him tightly.
“i love you too.. which is why sometimes i’m so harsh on you. i just want you to know that i care for you..” he says as you tilt your head to place a kiss on his cheek. he turns to meet your lips in a soft kiss. he lingers for a moment before pulling away. “we should eat before the food gets cold…”
you smile and nod at him, pulling back but leaning against his shoulder. he pulled out some of the dishes, and you both enjoyed the silence and ambiance of natlan’s wildlife.
as you ate, you truly did grasp how much you care for him. he’s always doing stuff for you, always making sure you’re taken care of, and loves to make you feel truly special. you smile softly as you eat, relishing in how war may have taken so much from you, but a moment with your lover can help start the process of healing.
