so, Kaladin is right and wrong, and that’s the point. in my opinion, he’s more right than wrong, which i’m gonna get to first so it’s out of the way. when people say Kaladin acts like a bitch in WoR, my initial response is ???? did we not read the same series?? did you not?? get the point? the boy was in slavery like ten minutes ago. anyone implying that Kaladin should be grateful when Dalinar wouldn’t even be alive without Kaladin… 

anyway. Kaladin is petty in Words of Radiance. (so is adolin in acting ungrateful for the men who saved his life). honestly i found the whole thing kind of funny lmao. these two.

Kaladin is not wrong in hating the system that enslaved and still oppresses him. what he is wrong in doing is hating on every individual who was born with light eyes before ever giving them a chance. this, however, is the result of trauma. specifically that of betrayal.

Kaladin would not be like this by choice. He’s actually an extremely trusting character; when he was a kid, he wanted to be a solider and talked incessantly of meeting “honorable lighteyes.” he’s susceptible to the propaganda around him and it builds an expectation in his mind that wasn’t only not met, but completely blown up in his face. it was one that was not only completely personal, but it made Kaladin directly targeted by the oppression he was always passively a part of.
