Loki who’s name has been associated with the word Logi(flame) but also with the words for “lock, close, bind” is a contract maker. Equally supported by the theory that he is also Ve, a god named for the word for sacrificial places and also Lodurr (also Ve) who gives mankind blood, one of the most effective and sacred sacrifices.

This is the god of offerings showing you the path. Lighting the flame in your heart, that will light that way through your journey.

Through popular culture that name is repeated and spoken over and over. Giving him a sort of earthly presence only a handful of other deities enjoy.

Hey folks! Hope everyone is doing well, staying safe, SOCIAL DISTANCING, and washing ya DANG HANDS if you have to go out!

I want to go into warding a bit today. Why do it? What's it for? How do you do it??

What is warding anyway???

I think if warding as almost a more intense and long lasting circle. It is used for protection, whether it be for yourself or the space you reside. Warding is extremely important if you plan on doing intense spellwork or very deep divination (such as hedge riding).

When you ward, you can say who is and isnt allowed in your warded space. This ensures no unwanted entities show up, at least not without having to ask.

Depending on where you are, your environment, and what you do in your practice, a warding of where you live/work can last anywhere from a month to a week. I recommend you ward your space more frequently than not, since as time goes on your ward will develop weak spots. These weak spots are how entities you dont want to see can get in. The more frequently you ward, the better.

As for wards on your own person, these tend to last only about a day or two. This is because it has to block out more. As it travels with you, more things may try to get in. It's also smaller than the one around your space physically, so it needs to be refreshed more often.

There honestly is no such thing as too many wards, if they are done right. I myself have three: one of fire around my property, one of fire around my room, and one of water around myself. My idea behind that is that the fire and water will both keep stuff out, but the water around myself allows my own energy and spells to pass through my fire walls. Water is also more calming to me than fire. As someone who deals with anxiety, I like my personal ward to have a calming feeling to it.

You can Visualize your own wards however you wish! Some use orbs of light, some use crystals around themselves, some use fire or water, some use mirrors. Your ward is your own and you should do whatever feels right for you! That will ensure the ward is at it's most powerful.

So, how do I ward??

I am going to go ahead and give you one of my own warding spells. This is my personal one, so use it to base your own spell off of!!

Since Loki is my patron, I go to him for protection before my other gods and goddesses. If you dont work with him or any gods, you can take this spell and rework it to not include them!

Please, make this spell your own. It is meant to guide you, not be your end all be all!

What you need:

1) Sage Stick

2) Yourself

How to:

1) Light your sage. Let the smoke waft around you.

2) Visualize. Visualize whatever you are going to be warding yourself with. You might want to take some time before this to figure out what you will be visualizing to ward yourself with.

3) Speak it into motion. While using the sage to cover yourself in the smoke, speak your spell. This is mine, feel free to edit it as you wish:

"I cast a circle around me, blue.

An orb of water through and through.

And like the beautiful ocean about it swim fish

Who move about with an enthusiastic tail swish.

And around my shoulder sits a beautiful sea snake

Who helps me to cope when my mind begins to ache.

May I be protected here, in this deep ocean blue

And keep safe my heart and my positive world view.

With Lokis mischief and love abound,

May I see that protection is easily found.

So mote it be."

On Performing Witchcraft

This is a basic introduction on how to merge yourself with magick and use it to influence life. I will be going over traditional witchcraft rather than modern, as the latter is more watered-down and not nearly as powerful in my experiences. Unlike modern witchcraft which tends to focus on things such as crystals, rare herbs, and certain tools, traditional witchcraft is folk magick and is tied in with the ancient ways. We are also not all Witches who must focus on the moon, this is also mainly due to Wicca, as the Sun and stars are just as useful to us. 

Witchcraft is a scientific art, a flow of energy and desire which brings about change if done properly. The heart of magick is weaving our passion and need into the energies that flow through creation; though this energy of magick is within us as well and can be used to fuel our craft. As magick is a tool of need, we must strongly focus on our desire for the outcome in order for it to come to fruition. 

As a folk practice, traditional Witches tend to be animists, meaning that we see all parts of nature as having a soul- the plants, waters, stars, moons, planets, rocks, mountains, winds, the soil, etc. It is essential to become acquainted with their energies and their alignments if you wish to successfully use their energy in a spell. This however, requires skill in energy work, of sensing spirits and their alignments. With plants, each and every one of them contain energy and alignments of course, but not all of them hold magick. In order to tell which plants are magick, one must use their second sight in order to see which ones have a yellow glow. Then the plant can be respectfully harvested, do not be harsh to the body of any nature spirit. When using the magick plants, be sure to burn them in order to get their energy out and into the weave of magick you are creating during the spell. Just be certain to not harvest any plants during the Waning Moon, as this phase restricts the energy of the plants.

It is very much necessary that a Witch writes their own spells, for this will make them aligned to both their local plants and their own method of spellcraft. Do not focus too much on the plants you must buy online, everything you need is already around you in the moss, grass, acorns, pine needles, lichen, and mushrooms. Everything around Nature is something that can be used and are right there for you already. Plants can also have more than just one planet assigned to them, influencing their energy. Although these are not limited to just the traditional planets, as there are more, including the Earth (ex: Avocados are linked to both Venus and Earth). As one becomes more skilled in energy work, they will be able to sense the properties of the plants themselves, so it is best to not rely too much upon books of magick herbs as they tend to hold inaccuracies. 

When doing a spell, we must focus on having the proper ingredients to absorb our energy and will, fueling the spell with our emotion and need, maintaining focus, visualizing, and having a proper taglock (if using spell upon another person). Working with trusted spirits is also a great way to make sure your spell is both powerful and successful, just be sure that you remain respectful towards the being and accommodate with an offering. And yes, this includes demons as well, for they are honourable teachers and a Witch must always question what the oppressors say. For taglocks, these can be a person’s hair, tooth, nail clipping, or a photograph. 

With all that knowledge, you can begin experimenting with your craft, but keep in mind that the more passionate your spell is, the better it will be. Merge yourself with Nature, both its beauty and terror, for magick is both of them at once. Become ecstatic, delve into trances, use blood, use animal parts, dig your hands into the soil, sing your desire or even scream it if you want. Let the fabric of energy that is magick feel your plea and let it flow through it, giving life to your desire. Focus on your desire as if it is already taking place, make it as vivid as possible, for this is the way to make it work for certain. And once the ritual is complete, you may bury the ingredients you used or put them wherever else you choose, but they must be sent into the Earth to work best.

Alright guys, let’s talk fae (the Celtic version).

There’s a terribly common misconception of what fae/fairy (and pixies) really means. On screen and sometimes even in books fairies are mistakenly shown to be those little winged creatures described as mischievous if not evil. That’s false. Those are actually pixies. The actual Fae (faerie, later fairy) are the mysterious nature spirits possessing magical powers, who look human-like but can also temporarily take up various smaller sizes upon choice.

But where do the Fae start? From the myths and folklore of the ancient Celts. The gods and goddesses of the Celts were many in number, and many unknown, but they were regarded with reverence, as having power and purpose, with various functions in the natural world. These gods were the Tuatha de Dannan, the people of Danu.

But with the arrival of Christianity, this changed, like most Celtic (and other non-Celtic) concepts. They were altered in meaning. Gods and deities of the old pagan ways were demoted to “fairy folk”, to heroes and remorseful warriors that change their faith, to lessen their power. Their pedestal of godhood and aura of mystery was strategically erased. They became enchanters, sorcerers, which obviously had evil connotations in Christian perception. In Daemonologie, King James associated fairies with demonic entities. Eventually even this imagery of the magical enchanters was further demoted to what is now most commonly known as that of the pixies: in other words, something small, harmless, powerless, a troublesome spirit that nobody cares to bother with anymore.
