Seekers Table Unintentional Character Study
whoops, didn't mean to make this this long oh wellll.... read and interact if C4 lives rent free in ur head pls i can't keep ts to myself T-T
urghh I just love complex characters with emotional constipation, don't you?
This whole campaign so far but especially the seekers table is great at both keeping the banter going back and forth while also continously spamming the *don't feel* button and stabbing us in the heartstrings....
just me? ok. lemme explain myself:
Occtis-- a young tourtured (litterally lmao) soul whose self-esteem is detrementally low and feigns apathy but deep down doesn't know what he's doing, doesn't know how to cope with his new death or people and is just doing the best he can and coping with calculating scientific reasoning about his situation; keep it clinical and not emotional as best he can for as long as he can.
Vaelus-- an elf who's lived lifetimes longer than the rest of the table, seems untouchable and immensely wise, and should be jaded, which she is to an extent, but also shows such deep compassion? understanding? of occtis and julien who are both still so young and out of their depth.
I think (exemplified in this ep especially *c4e16) despite all she's been through, she still hasn't given up hope trying to save her family or properly dealt with the emotions that stemmed from whatever happened. She lived through times of war, and still hasn't slowed down... however this is just a theory as she still remains much of an enigma to us.
Julien-- an angry and self-assured man, whose goals have been wrenched from him since the fall of his family. He's similar to occtis in a way, but shows it differently. Instead of apathy, he has unbridled rage for the destruction of his family, of his house, and of the cruelty of the war. Underneath the pompous self-assured exterior, I don't believe that he likes himself very much, and also like most of the rest, is running on fumes. Despite the multiple times we've seen him cry, I don't think for a second that he's actually in touch with his emotions.
Thaisha-- a woman who's holding it together with frayed rope and duct-tape. I think as a character, she's a mediator, always ready to fix it. She's the most in touch with emotions out of the seekers, but moreso the emotions of those around her. She's always checking in on Occtis, on Julien, and even on Vaelus, despite her aprehension to the woman. She has (decent) boundries, but especially mediators need a break sometimes.
TLDR; all the seekers table characters (also the soldiers don't think I forgot) are going through it and complex characters in a world with too much hardship (not dislike our own) and make me want to lock them in a room and give them therapy cus me too buddy
