The trap of solipsism
Solipsism is the belief that nothing exists except my own self
According to Descartes
"I think, therefore I am"
Since I perceive my own thoughts (stream of consciousness) I have a subjective certainty of my own existence
Everything I perceive outside of myself could just as easily be a sensory illusion a hallucination
Human life thus takes place in a universe in which the individual can never be certain that anything exists outside of themselves
The individual resolves this question by accepting the existence of everything they cannot know to be certain of ( everything outside their own mind)
question : How to deal with this uncertainty?
What solutions have you found to escape the solipsistic trap?
