Zoey just kept laughing at Corey, unable to stop herself since her plan had succeeded, but then it backfired. She felt a strong tug on her hand and lost her balance, falling down too before she could stop it. Zo gasped as she resurfaced, catching her breath in shock before nodding her head. “Really, Corey?!” she said laughing as she looked at herself. She was already wearing her bikini, yes, but she’d been wearing it underneath her t-shirt and some shorts. So now all her clothes were completely soaked. “You weren’t the one wanting to tan, but you’re the one who needs it,” she said before splashing some water in his face. “I guess I can’t really be angry though,” she said referring to the fact that she had started this. Now that she was in the water anyway, she dove under again, even though it wasn’t that deep, and then came back up again. “I didn’t know it’d be this warm already,” she said before taking off her t-shirt, curling it up in a ball and throwing it in the sand. Swimming with clothes was just too heavy.
"Jesus, Corey, you really are pale,” she said when she looked at him, not thinking that might make him feel bad.
"If I have to be like this, then you have to too! It's only fair." He was just grateful that he had chosen to throw on swimming trunks at the last minute. It wasn't like he had an extensive collection of them (he tended to avoid the water as much as he avoided the beach, and both those things generally came hand in hand) but at least he owned something beach/water appropriate. Corey's shirt clung to his frame as he let out a bit of a laugh at her reaction despite himself, not fully realizing the situation he had found himself in until Zoey tossed her own shirt aside. He averted his eyes out of decency, hoping that he could play off whatever blush he had on his cheeks as the sun's fault.
"I told you," Corey replied taking the time to glance at his pale skin. "Why would I lie about being pasty?" Maybe he really did need some sun. He knew he was pale but he hadn't thought he was that pale.
I couldn’t if I tried, sadly.

Well you can always take a bit of time off. Everyone needs at least a bit of holiday. Me? Hamptons with the family , Europe tour with Tom and Ty, Greece with Chuck. That kind of thing. Maybe a short trip to Asia, but nothing’s set in stone yet.

Why would you feel out of place? Er, I mean, I'm sorry. That was kind of direct. And rude...wasn't it? We can be in that boat together then. And maybe we can figure out how to tell our parents. I'm sure your mom just wants the best for you. If you showed her that Dartmouth was the place for you she'd have to come around.

Zoey laughed when Corey mentioned the club thing. “Maybe we will. Though the brother-misery is still different than the friend-misery. I like to think the sibling-misery is just a tad worse,” she said before nodding, as if confirming it. “You had about four cool points, but now you’re in negative. You tried, that’s the main thing,” she said before looking at Corey dipping his feet in the water. Suddenly, without thinking about it too much, Zoey ran after him and pushed him, making him fall face-first into the water before bursting out in laughter. “Oops!” she said between laughing as she splashed some more water on him. “You tan much faster when you’re wet,” she said as if that was an actual excuse.
"You sound like you're talking from experience," he said lightly. He didn't know much, if anything at all about Zoey's life at home despite her mentioning her grandmother several times.
He would have said more, maybe asked if she did have a sibling but the next thing he knew, he was no longer standing on sand and Corey found himself plunging into the ocean. Everything had a muffled quality to it and he found himself panicking at first as a wave crashed over him, but the water wasn't that deep and he surfaced, spluttering a little as his hair stuck to his face. "Hey!" Trying to sound angry was a bit of a lost cause he realized, and he was laughing as much as she was. "I wasn't even the one who wanted to go tanning ," and with that he grabbed a hold of her hand, tugging her into the surf with him.

Corey: You sure it's okay for me to come over?
