She sipped from her drink, an imprint of red lipstick staining the perfectly shined glass. She’d wipe it off habitually when done, forever a cleaner despite her promotion, erasing even the smallest of evidence of ever occupying a room. Unfortunately she couldn’t scrub the cameras, but the event’s promised secrecy would keep surveillance under heavy lock and key. That, and she memorized all the camera angles to avoid before assignment.

“You know I don’t bet on outcomes I can’t control. You may trust your racer, but you don’t think any of the race is fixed? They may not know it, but even the favored victor might already be the loser. Besides, your bet is moot – I only clean up my own messes now, unless I’m called in as backup for a team for those ‘gnarly.’” Her French accent made the word less radical than when he said it. “What’s the latest digital wipe you’ve encountered requiring your highest effort? Style-altering encryptions by some MIT prodigy to solve on a timer-based hack before you’re detected by authorities or worse?”

Cesar knew he shouldn't have come. Not because the event would be bad but because he knew he wouldn't be able to resist making a bet, especially after all of the ways Yves had taught him about cars and racing. He had some insider knowledge now. "You ever think about how some of these cars cost the same as someone's house?" He laughed softly, adjusted his glasses and turned to the person next to him as they both inspected the rare car in front of them. "Then again if you live in your car then I suppose you kill two birds with one stone." He looked around for a moment before adjusting his hat and standing up a bit straighter. "What do you think would happen if I tried to sit inside one of these things right now? You think I'll be tackled before I get to the door or is that kind of thing allowed?"

“You’d get tazed, Cesar. If someone didn’t dislocate your arm by grabbing you first.” Inclining her head to the car, her earrings swung with the movement, “if security tackled you, they risk collision with the car.”

Hope for once was made to dress up nicely in a sundress, exchanging out her usual wears of oversized shirts and farmwear that she's oh so carefully cultivated over the years. Basically whatever that was easy to wash. But it was a fancy occasion, as fancy as they could make it in these times, so Hope had to put in the effort to at least feel pretty again for once. She's been covered in soil and dirt for too much, even more so than when she worked at the Botanic Garden, that was manicured compared to this.

And of course, the first thing that catches her eye after the entire shebang of the important part of a wedding, the next most important part of the wedding is the food! Even more so when she's had a hand in growing the food herself. Hope glowed over the prepared food, grinning proudly as a person joined her in admiring the meal, "ooooh doesn't it look so delicious? I'm so happy with the way the fruits and veggies turn out, it was a temperamental batch to be honest."

""It does! I gotta admit... as much as it pains me... diner food would not have been appropriate." Maybe if she ever got married one day. Then again, not doing a diner themed wedding could be a fun twist. Ember would be planning it, obviously. She'd be happier not doing a diner, most likely. Rosie should have angled a diner themed wedding to Charlie . . .

"I love having a wider range of fruits and veggies. It's like...living a new life. We did grow a lot of strawberries that first season. And peas, but bean sprouts are so fast and easy. I think everyone was really tired of bean sprouts pretty quickly. But I still love them!"
