I think what a lot of people ignore is how her obsession with Adrien and making sure he stays the same perfect Adrien she imagined has negatively affected Marinette's character, especially in the latest seasons.
In the first season, Marinette wasn't completely defined by her relationship with Adrien and had episodes that ultimately weren't about him, like "Mr. Pigeon," where her interest in fashion design was on full display, and how much she really wants that to be her future. Sure her crush on Adrien was apparent, but her story was ultimately more about her love for creation and designing over just wanting to please Adrien. We saw that she was creative, capable, and genuinely passionate about the craft, which allowed her character to truly shine. However, that sadly became a rarity in later seasons, like Reflektdoll, which turned from a story about her trying to promote her business to her being too nervous to model with Adrien.
Also in Shanghai special which could've been about Marinette rediscovering her Chinese heritage, was made into a story where she couldn't deal with being apart from Adrien for a week! Even her position as Guardian is ignored unless it's about ruining her love life or why she should make all the decisions. She shows no interest in the history of the Miraculous or the Order and their lore, which makes the world building feel very shallow.
And now, her character is nothing more than "I can't let anything happen to Adrien! What will Adrien think of me? Adrien will hate me!" Her creativity, her ambitions, her heritage, and her status as Guardian all took a backseat in favor of making Adrien the center of her universe to the point he has become the only thing she cares about anymore.
Now, I'm not saying they had to get rid of the romantic angle entirely, but we didn't need every episode to be about Marinette obsessing about Adrien and his opinion of her.

I think Maripologists are aware of this, but they constantly try to frame it as Adrienās fault, like they do everything. Before the two got together, there was this narrative that, if Adrien would just stop being so stupid and oblivious and realize Marinette loves him and reward her with the relationship she deserves, then all these issues would be fixed and Marinette could pursue her other interests. Now that they are together and Marinette has only become more obsessed, itās Adrienās fault because, if he wasnāt so childish and needy Marinette wouldnāt need to worry about his mental state and lie for his sake and ruin her own mental health.
I had an idea for a new classmate whose in love with Chat Noir but not Adrien, because she finds the former funny and cool while the latter is boring and so āmarketableā, and sheās not shy about this.
Now logically you would think Marinette wouldnāt care and would actually be thrilled to not have another girl obsess about her boyfriend but she just canāt understand how this girl doesnāt see Adrien for the perfection he is.
Getting Adrien's feelings out of the way first, I think he'd be happy to have someone not go crazy stupid over Adrien Agreste. I don't think he'd be insulted over being called "marketable" or "boring." He kinda agrees, ngl.
But Marinette?

How dare you? Can't you see Adrien is perfection reincarnated on Earth. You should feel blessed to breath the very air he breaths. To walk on the very ground he walks. To have working vision to see his radiance. How can you call him boring? He's not boring!!

He's flattered but nothing happens. Partly because I'm not a big fan of canon x oc (not against it, I have my own, there are just some characters I don't like it with, Adrien happens to be one of those characters). Partly because:
A. She's in love with Chat Noir
B. Adrien is Chat Noir
C. She has no interest in Adrien
D. ADRIEN IS CHAT NOIR
I just think it'd really fucking awkward dating someone who doesn't like you. For all that Adrien thought Marinette didn't like him, that was solely because she didn't know how to talk to him and he had no idea she actually liked him.
This girl straight up calls him boring and "marketable". Like I said, he agrees with the statement, he likes that someone doesn't like Adrien Agreste. Doesn't mean he likes it or is willing to date the person who thinks that way about him. Moreso when it seems like they only see him as Adrien Agreste, the model. We don't know if she's willing to get to know him and become friends.
The two options that come to mind, when you think about what if they did date, are:
A. She finds out Chat Noir is Adrien, and suddenly Adrien is cool and funny.
or
B. She finds out Chat Noir is Adrien, and suddenly Chat Noir is boring and "marketable".
Option C is everything stays the same, so we don't care about option C.
Also, yeah, she doesn't care about Marinette until she gets fed up with how much she keeps trying to get her to change her opinion on Adrien.
I honestly think it would be interesting if Adrien and OC learn to get along and OC starts to see there's more to him. But i see your point of view too.
Imagine if OC got akumatized, and if this takes place in S5-6, she's under the impression that Ladybug and Chat are still close and she tries to become his new and only partner, Chat plays along only to buy time and as she's deakumatized he comforts her/tells her you don't have to be a superhero to do good. Of course she's still disappointed that they can't be together as a duo but learns that Chat has no feelings for Ladybug anymore.
There's a lot of good plot ideas with this
tell me why all the good characters in miraculous have small noses and a ton of the bad characters have big noses. Like I'm catching up on episodes and watching sleeping siren and all the kids on Marinettes side have small noses, round faces, and very similar looking faces and the bullies have big noses, big ears, and/or moles

Oh no. Gina is sad. Oh no. From what I can tell she and Roland have barely interacted much in the last decade and a half.
As others have pointed out: Marinette has known this guy for a few busy months of her entire life. It's clear this is meant to teach her about loss but it's such a tertiary interaction that š¤·.
I'll be glad she's going to (in theory) learn the lesson but I am not invested in her grandparents at all. I hope that those who are interested get an episode that they can enjoy. ML S6 has generally done the small-scale lessons well. The new writers seem to have chops. (The old ones are still in charge of the big plot stuff and it shows)

Just calling out an objectively bad take, difference is that it's an established flaw of Alya's that she's a bit naive and impulsive. Besides, her blog has been framed as more of a fan account. But Marinette is constantly glazed as the best superhero ever, no one in history has been able to wield as many miraculouses as her, etc. Her flaws, like being a control freak are sometimes rewarded, (her whole thing of "I can only trust myself ooh" in Dark Castle when, literally no, she's got people on her side). At least Alya is allowed to be flawed.

I think the problem with Lila is that throughout seasons 2, 4, and the majority of 3 she either appears sporadically or not at all so thereās not time to build her up as a major threat or influence her relationship with Marinette so it feels shallow and unrealistic that sheās suddenly this mastermind strategist when sheās only been a power leech so far.

Exactly. This is 100% the problem with Lila's character, the fact that she's used super sparingly during a time period that should have gone to BUILDING HER UP.
Nothing to mention, her earlier lies were completely laughable, which does kind of take me out of her character..
No doubt this is me being a bit petty, but I find it irritating to see so many Marinette fans praise her akuma form as Heartfixer into the heavens, claiming it's such a good and gorgeous design that totally shows how much of a lesbian Lila is for her.
I mean.. Heartfixer's design gives barely anything. I'm not saying the design is ugly and awful, it's just... nothing to fawn over like this tbh. Why do Marinette fans insist on having no standards and satisfy themselves with the barest minimum? This happens every time Marinette gets any kind of new suit, no matter how ugly or bare bones. Cause it's MARINETTE who's wearing it, so it must be glazed, even though they SHOULD be asking for Marinette to be given better. This mindless glazing feels like the exact reason why the show designers and writers DONT do better. Because they know they don't have to put in any actual effort because Marinette stans will settle for anything as long as it can somehow be twisted into tunnel-visioned glazing.
Not to mention that akuma victims give themselves their name and design, so Lila had nothing to do with Marinette matching her Butterfly astral form. That was Marinette's decision. Lila is not a lesbian for this, and she isn't one for cuddling up with her like that, during the akumatization, either. Lila has been touchy with all kinds of people and Marinette clearly wants to be cuddled, pitied, and given an easy out, no matter who offers it.
Saying all of this is just Lila being a lesbian misses the point of the akuma victims having agency in how they look and what their power is, and that Lila is a master manipulator who will adjust her approach to her victims' desires and needs.
It also feels very familiar in the way it "coincidentally" absolves Marinette of almost all blame and agency in this. It's not Marinette giving into the Butterfly the moment they give her the cuddles, validation, and easy solution she wants to have, it's Lila being a creepy lesbian who's preying upon innocent little Marinette.
It's interesting how Marinette fans act like it's unfathomable to them that Lila might not be a hard core lesbian for Marinette, but instead that Marinette may be the foe Lila wants to crush and defeat, but at the end of the day doesn't care about one bit. That Marinette too is just used as object and means to an end, the way Lila already did it in Revelation.

Like, WHAT about that Akuma design is so āgorgeousā? Like, Iām not saying itās ugly, there isnāt enough design in there for it to BE ugly, but it is a whole lot of nothing.
Like, thatās a common criticism of the new season; that the characters arenāt allowed to look unattractive, so they emote more blandly to make sure their faces stay basic standard attractive. Sheās just Marinetteās silhouette with minor added accents.
