Far far deep in my assorted notes is a bunch of ideas involving Lila and Adrien and their "friendship", more specifically chronicling every single time Adrien did something to piss Lila off 😭 I've grown very attached to the idea that they're two very similar people who can go through the motions of acting civil yet cannot STAND the other. Lila is too mean and Adrien is too quirky. By the time Adrien grows a spine and stops taking Lila's bullshit without standing up for himself (i.e. purse smacking, verbal insults, screaming...), he's perfectly able to match her energy and start pissing her off on purpose instead of just by accident.

These are all snippets from VoxPop, though, so thankfully they're not doomed to Secret WIP Hell. Adrien, I love you and your bizarre off-putting swag.

Chrysalis uses any excuse to attempt to akumatize Adrien so she can ask him out.

Chrysalis, laying on her side floating in the akuma mind space with rose petals fluttering in from above: "Metal Maniac... I see the universe has ruthlessly struck you down once again. Oh, how my heart bleeds for your suffering."

Adrien: "I stubbed my toe."

Chrysalis: "Let me grant you flesh of impenetrable steel! No furniture will ever harm you again! All I ask in return are the Miraculous... and maybe we grab dinner after? Just to see where the night takes us~"

Adrien: "...Lila, please. Just break into my room like a normal person."

Careless Whisper plays in the background the whole time with Chrysalis' avatar going ham on the saxophone.

*Which is debateable. When Kagami put a truth-detector on her, she said that she loved Adrien, and it didn't trigger. Now, it is possible that she just believes that she loves Adrien,** or that the truth detector was only responding to her larger point, which was her saying that if Kagami kills Ladybug, she is willing to stop trying to date him.

**Which might actually describe Marinette's relationship with him.

Dude, I have so many thoughts about how Liladrien would go. It's literally my favorite ship in mlb.

Their dynamic is just pure gold. With only three episodes, the show managed to give this relationship more development than the main ship had in 6 season (Adrien and Lila's initial perceptions of one another are very different than their final perceptions). The two of them are insanely good foils for one another. And most importantly, you can explore sides about those characters that you never see anywhere else.

Adrien got Lila pegged from the get go. She lies because she wants attention and to pretend like her life is better than it is. (Or at least that's the characterization they had for her before the Cerise nonsense, which is what I'm sticking with.)

He also correctly assessed that the best way to deal with her is to ignore her, as that robs her of all the power she has over you. I don't give a shit what s5 says, Adrien was completely right in his attitude towards Lila. Especially because as soon as Lila started doing things that aren't just harmless lying, he took action as well.

That scene between them in "Ladybug" might be the single most fascinating piece of characterization Adrien ever got. For a single scene, Adrien was allowed to have a spine of steel and put Lila in her place. He was shown to not only be Lila's equal, but someone who who could win against her in a way literally no other character in the show managed. Not even Gabriel managed to go against Lila and escape unscathed.

We only see them interacting a single time after that, but there we see that Adrien is quick to tell her off for trying to pull bullshit with him.

This is a side of Adrien we never get to see anywhere else. With other people we get hints of his anger, his stubborness, even the tiniest flicker of ruthlessness. But he cares about their opinions of him too much so he pushes down everything that might make them dislike him.

With Lila? Adrien couldn't care less what she thinks of him. That makes him willing to be a lot more open about his agressive or otherwise unflattering sides of him. It's such an amazing setup to explore all his less-than-perfect sides and his relationship to them.

Because what he feels about them would define how he feels about Lila. Is he ashamed of them? Hates them? Scared of them? Or maybe there's a part of him he represses that wants to let them loose. That wants to be allowed to act however he wants without having to contort himself for the sake of the other person.

And if that's how he feels about them, then even if he can't stand Lila and hates that she tried to hurt his friends, he would still have a reason to seek her out. After all, she's the only person he feels comfortable acting this way around.

On Lila's side, the relationship would be just as fraught. We saw her reaction in canon to having her lies exposed and it's universally to lash out and try to mess up the other person's life.

However, we see a difference in how she reacts to Marinette and Adrien's attempts. Marinette goes against her publically and tries to destroy everything she built up, which leads to Lila getting obsessed with destroying her in turn.

Adrien meanwhile, talks to her in private conversations and only tries to stop her when she's hurting people. Lila's reaction to that was to lash out at him once, but she never developed the same sort of vendetta as she has against Marinette. In fact, he called her out and went against her but she didn't retaliate at all.

She clearly sees Adrien's method as less of a threat to her ego, and so she's more willing to tolerate it. Even after he went against her she still tries to flirt with him. But there's no way she can accept his victories over her gracefully, especially if it happens multiple times.

The way Adrien can see right through her would definitely put her on edge. And to make matters worse, he reaction isn't to demonize her and treat her as an enemy, but to empathize and offer his hand in friendship.

She was already attracted to Adrien for all the reasons you would imagine (rich, famous, handome), but now he would also be the one person she can't manipulate but who's also not her enemy.

If the show actually cared about character dynamics rather than making Marinette the center of the universe, Lila would see Adrien as a worthy opponent. She could still see Marinette as that bitch she despises and wants to make her life hell (especially if she suspects Marinette is Ladybug like in s6, since she would have double the vendetta), but Adrien is the one she would be looking to play games with.

She would seek to possess and control him. Both to get one over him as payback, but also because she seeks the understanding and companionship he offers but wants to have it without having to risk being vulnerable.

Adrien would push back, as we saw he's both capable and willing to do against Lila. And every time he would manage to get one over her, she would grow more obsessed with posessing him.

If they ever get into a relationship, it would be one of the most overtly toxic things you ever saw. Lila would use all the classic abusive techniques to try and isolate Adrien, to cut him off from any support network he has and undermine his confidence and self esteem. Not all of them would succeed, but some of them would.

But while most of the toxicity would come from Lila's side, not all of it would. That relationship would bring the worst out of Adrien. Yet the toxicity would also be half the appeal for him. It would feel more honest than something like the sickly sweet relationship he has with Marinette. Lila's possessiveness would also do a lot to soothe his abandonment issues.

I'm of two minds whether Lila would use his amok against him. On the one hand, it would feel cheap, and part of the fantasy of taking Adrien down a peg would be earning that victory over him because she's so much better. On the other hand, all's fair in love and war and Lila definitely isn't afraid of playing dirty. If Adrien didn't want to get mind controlled he shouldn't have been born a senti. She would most likely keep it as a ace up her sleeve for a moment where she doesn't manage to get what she wants by her usual means.

As for breaking Adrien's amok, I can only see her doing that as a "if I can't have him, no one can" thing. She would never in a thousand years break the amok in the same situation Marinette was. She would let the city burn first.

The ways Marinette mistreats Adrien are less toxic (not a high bar to clear), but unlike with Lila, Adrien doesn't push back at all. He cares about Marinette's opinion of him, so he has all his people pleasing instincts engaged. He would rationalize that all of the mistreatment is his fault because he's doing something wrong (as we see in canon). He wouldn't hold Marinette accountable for any of it.

Marinette would definitely be willing to use Adrien's amok. As soon as she feels like she has a justified reason or it would be the quickest way to fix a problem, she would do it with barely any hesitation.

I read a lot of Liladrien fics iver the weekend I was in Paris ( @jesuis-melodrama you are heavily at fault with your wonderful works) and just today I finished "Anywhere you’re gonna be, that’s where I wanna be" by thescuttlebugg. With the exception of Volpina being revealed as Alya in the end, I loved the Soulmates VolpiNoir dynamic of two yearners in love.

Then there is "The only one to trust me with the truth." by Emiya129 where I absolutely love the change Lila webt through after getting a taste of Adrien's love. This one is in a big contrast to other Liladrien fics where she somehow corrupts him, because here he warms(worms) his way into her heart. He sees the person behind the mask of the villain and for Lila it means everything.

I don't know about any established types of soulmarks and hiw they work, but I like the idea that if soulmates are meant to interact directly one day, then when they touch their skin will change color in the place of contact. A handshake, a patch where they brush while passing by, etc. If they are really away, then they can write messages to find the way to eachother.

The most important thing I like is that at the end of the day, the marks fade away because the universe is a bitch like that.

That said here's 2 angsty prompts I came up in a pinch.

Prompt One: VolpiNoir

After the events of Volpina, Fu was impressed with how proficient she was with lies and illusions so he gave her the Fox miraculous.

Either that, or she never was akumatized, but what matters is that Volpina is the third hero of Paris. Both Ladybug and Chat Noir were sceptical at first, but Chat warmed up to her rather quickly, while Ladybug was still on the fence about her.

While Volpina and Chat Noir were very much in love and denial about it, because of the protective suits they had no contact and therefore didn't know they are soulmates.

At school situation is a bit different. Class is not as stupid as in the show, so they clock her lies, eventually. This leads to Lila to become a loner and an outcast. Adrien sees past her façade and despite everything still continues to talk to her. She still lies, but with every lie Adrien gets a bit of truth and actually starts to chip away at the mask of Bitchy Model.

The more he does so, the more he realises how alike they are and notices the parallels between Lila and Volpina. Lila is not evil, she just wanted to make friends even if lying was the wrong way about it, so when class had enough of her, she poured her everything into persona of Volpina, which became her escape, just like Chat Noir for Adrien. She's in the wrong for lying, but entire class turning her into an outcast also doesn't sit right with him, so tension ensues.

With Agreste getting way too close for comfort to the truth Rossi turns to ignoring him, and when that proves hard, to outright evading him. He asks her very pointed, very personal questions, and even if he means them in a concerned, helpful way, Lila couldn't help but grow more desperate to stop it.

When he blocks her way until she answers, Lila lashes out and slaps him, knocking blonde on his ass.

"..." Before she can even say a word to apologise, she sees that the slap mark is not red, but orange. Adrien looks at her in shock, but then lowers his gaze at her hand which is now green. She follows and sees it too.

"...gatito?" the word slips from her trembling lips.

"...volpe?"

Prompt Two: Chat x Chrysalis

Chat is out on solo patrol when he spots someone jumping across the roofs. He sets chase and eventually catches up to Chrysalis, the new villain tormenting the city. He immediately calls for Ladybug, but she doesn't answer so he has no choice but to fight on bis own.

The fight breaks out and Lila has to give it her everything not to immediately lose to The Black Cat of Paris. He might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but one could not find a better fighter than him.

Not being able to overpower him, she turns to tricks and manages to knock away her cane and his staff. Both take stances and begin circling eachother.

"A gentleman would never hit a lady, would he?"

"These hands are rated E for Everyone!"

They pounce at the same time, both throwing a punch to the other's face and they land, but when they step back, both are taken aback.

Chat has a hyacinth purple fist mark on his cheek, while Chrysalis has a toxic green one.

Both stand in shock for a while, but then Chrysalis just bolts away. She's right there, a hand stretch away, but slips nonetheless and he can't even go after her.

To makes matters worse, Ladybug finally comes landing just behind him.

"I came as fast as I can, where is she?"

"..."

"Chat? Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm fine. Sorry I let her slip away."

"Don't worry, it's not your fault, we'll get her one day, right?" She extends a fist for a bump, but he is still turned with his back to her whenhis ring begins to beep.

"Sorry, have to go."

"No problem, meet up at the tower?"

And he doesn't answer before silently leaving. While Marinette is worried about what has happened that made Chaton feel so down, Adrien just ran.

Without thinking, without looking, so fast that his bad luck somehow caught on to him and he tripped just as he detransformed. He rolled a good few meters and just didn't tey to get up, which worried Plagg.

Cerise was no better, she heard Bug's yo-yo before she saw her, so she was able to just kick jer mind into "Get the fuck away from here!" gear. Once again she succeeded, but it wasn't all good and wonderful.

At her hideout she just slid against the world in thought. She must've been like this for s long time if Nooroo detransformed her and was hollering.

Chat Noir was her soulmate.

Chat Noir, the partner of that pest, the defender of Paris, was her soulmate.

Despite giving a promise to herself never to do that ever again, she begun to cry, because now she knew that no matter what, no matter what she did or would do, she has a person who would love her no matter what.

He would love her a true love, one she only pretended and never actually had.

"Why the fuck am I even crying? I don't care about all that stuff!"

"....it's your soul." The Butterfly squeaked.

"What the hell are you talking about?! Answer!"

"Y-your soul... It's c-crying from joy."

"Why?"

"....b-because you f-found your second h-half?"

"...this changes nothing." This changes everything.

What I see happening for prompt One is her running to him and holding him like Ivan The Terrible, mumbling "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." as she kissed his forehead.

Eventually she lets him go because he's fine, just spooked. It's very awkward, but they talk, quickly mending things as Adrien and Lila.

"So... You're my Kissy-Kissy meow-meow?"

"Mhm. And you are the vixen of my heart?"

"...Yeah."

Their hands slowly inch closer to one another until she interlaces their fingers. She looks away, while he looks at her in surprise, pleasant this time.

"Lila?"

"M?" She looks ar him, not looking at their hands at all, when he kisses her softly. Jokes are on him because what begun as a soft kiss, quickly turned into making out because Lila is not letting him go now.

Next day Marinette arrives early for the first time in ages. The door opens and Alya has to catch her as Bakergirl has an aneurysm from seeing Lila on his lap, the two of them kissing in broad daylight.

As for the second one, it's very worrying for everyone.

Whatever happened that night, it was bad because Chat is really down. No one has ever seen him like this, no jokes, no smiles, just staring into the distance.

He would give them his attention whenever they scream his name loud enough, but most of the time he doesn't even react to Ladybug hughing him. So yeah. It's bad.

Adrien.... He doesn't know what to do. Chrysalis is the enemy, just like Hawkmoth was. They don't know anything about her except the fact that she, for some reason, hates Ladybug with burning passion. And yet...

Adrien is supposed to love her with his whole heart. And she, who is so full of hatred is supposed to love him as much, if not more. All his life he was sure that fate never made mistakes, people meant to be together, are meant to be together. But now? Now he questions if universe hasn't made a first of a kind error.

Some new part of him wonders what made her be like this. Is this because of whatever Ladybug is lying? Suddenly he has this desire to protect whoever it is behind that mask and soothe their pain.

Lila is straight up seething with rage. Just like when her plan failed with "Ladybug = Gabriel Agreste", now all her thoughts one way or another drifted to the Cat.

This stupid! She remembers how easily he toyed with an akuma before Ladybug came and he dumbed down for ber sake.

Ugly! Her dreams are haunted by his sharp face, with beautiful blonde hair and green, emerald eyes. The details are blurry, but she is sure he could rival Adrien.

And weak! Through eyes of akuma she saw how he lifted a huge chunk of the wall to help the civilians escape, something even the Bull struggled with.

Fucking Cat!!

....

Then something in her clicks. Ain't that an idea?

Steal Ladybug's most trusted partner and turn him against her! It's brilliant!!
