Crowley: yeah, yep, go ahead
Aziraphale: took a while to get through to you
Crowley: mm I bet. Things are going well here
Aziraphale: I’m glad to hear it. I’m expecting you back in a few days, am I not?
Crowley: might have to put a pin in that for now
Aziraphale: oh? Why’s that?
Crowley: well, things are going well
Aziraphale: what’s that mean?
Crowley:
Oh this is hilarious
Hi! My name is Eliott. I love video games, animals, and building things. I work as a ph… Eliott Chandonia needs your support for Help Eliot
Help my partner get top surgery!!! Eliott is transmasc and has been binding for years to alleviate dysphoria at the cost of their physical health. Binding has left them with chronic back and shoulder pain. I love them so so so so much and I know this would change their life for the better and afford them a physical freedom they can’t get any other way. Unfortunately we live in Georgia, a state which considers gender affirming surgeries (potentially life saving surgeries) as entirely cosmetic, insurance doesn’t cover this surgery that I know will change their life for the better. We have to pay $9,000 out of pocket. Eliott is fiercely independent and is working hard to cover most of the cost themself but we still need your help. If you are in a place to donate, any amount is deeply appreciated. Sharing is also deeply, deeply appreciated. I can’t wait to go hiking with my partner without it causing them physical pain, I can’t wait for them to feel comfortable swimming, can’t wait for them to feel whole in their body.

the experience of writing something, posting it, and then having people comment about their favorite parts through their eyes is just. such an incredible experience. it’s like getting to re-read your own writing again for the first time and it always gives me such a giddy feeling when people pick up on things i don’t realize i’m putting out.
if you’re white and you act like race issues are just “unnecessary drama” or “discourse” then sorry to tell you but you’re just…. racist
yes white people CAN and probably SHOULD reblog this just dont add on anything.

name one native american intellectual off the top of your head, name one native american actor or actress off the top of your head, name one native american senator, one native american news anchor, or an author or a tv personality or a singer or a poet or a comedian, name a single native american teacher you’ve had, can you? probably not
ok so now think of one native american cartoon character you know of or a sports team relating to native americans whether it’s their actual name or their team logo, or a town you live in or near with a “native” name bet a lot of these things came to you right away i bet you didn’t even have to think
needing native representation in media, education and government are not decoy issues, the commercialization and appropriation of native cultures are not decoy issues, the lack of native representation is institutional oppression at work
White people specifically need to reblog this, I don’t CARE if it makes you uncomfortable–that’s the point. Listen to Native voices about Native issues PLEASE
Reblog if you agree.
I agree

Something I find incredibly cool is that they’ve found neandertal bone tools made from polished rib bones, and they couldn’t figure out what they were for for the life of them.
Until, of course, they showed it to a traditional leatherworker and she took one look at it and said “Oh yeah sure that’s a leather burnisher, you use it to close the pores of leather and work oil into the hide to make it waterproof. Mine looks just the same.”
“Wait you’re still using the exact same fucking thing 50,000 years later???”
“Well, yeah. We’ve tried other things. Metal scratches up and damages the hide. Wood splinters and wears out. Bone lasts forever and gives the best polish. There are new, cheaper plastic ones, but they crack and break after a couple years. A bone polisher is nearly indestructible, and only gets better with age. The more you use a bone polisher the better it works.”
It’s just.
50,000 years. 50,000. And over that huge arc of time, we’ve been quietly using the exact same thing, unchanged, because we simply haven’t found anything better to do the job.
i also like that this is a “ask craftspeople” thing, it reminds me of when art historians were all “the fuck” about someone’s ear “deformity” in a portrait and couldn’t work out what the symbolism was until someone who’d also worked as a piercer was like “uhm, he’s fucked up a piercing there”. interdisciplinary shit also needs to include non-academic approaches because crafts & trades people know shit ok
One of my professors often tells us about a time he, as and Egyptian Archaeologist, came down upon a ring of bricks one brick high. In the middle of a house. He and his fellow researchers could not fpr the life of them figure out what tf it could possibly have been for. Until he decided to as a laborer, who doesnt even speak English, what it was. The guy gestures for my prof to follow him, and shows him the same ring of bricks in a nearby modern house. Said ring is filled with baby chicks, while momma hen is out in the yard having a snack. The chicks can’t get over the single brick, but mom can step right over. Over 2000 years and their still corraling chicks with brick circles. If it aint broke, dont fix it and always ask the locals.
I read something a while back about how pre-columbian Americans had obsidian blades they stored in the rafters of their houses. The archaeologists who discovered them came to the conclusion that the primitive civilizations believed keeping them closer to the sun would keep the blades sharper.
Then a mother looked at their findings and said “yeah, they stored their knives in the rafters to keep them out of reach of the children.”
Omg the ancient child proofing add on tho lol
Stuff that always gets me
