“You smell like shit too. And we both know I’m no good at holding my breath for anyone.“

“You can walk away.”

“You look horrible,“ Jax paused staring at Conrad. “Not you, man. I’m unofficially here to get you out of your dumps. You’re bringing me down.“

“Then don’t look.”

“I have no sense of humor.“

“Good to know.”

“How does it feel to be underground again?“

“I’d say yes but I don’t drink,”

“That an old hang up from your spy days?”

“A large one,”

He turned and grabbed a highball glass. “Tell me when.”

“Fuck yeah I do.“

He nodded the the cabinet behind him. “Grab a glass, Jayweed.”

“Brought out the big guns. What’s the special occasion?“

“Didn’t know one was needed for a glass.” He took a long drink and slouched onto a stool. “What’s up, man?”

“Who’s telling you lies?“ She smiled. 

“I thought I didn’t need to butter you up. I guess I could add that to the grow list of things I was wrong about.“

“All the younger kid’s snapchat stories.” He winked and took a long swig of his drink.

“Thanks. But I’ll pass. I think everyone had enough of the mini bar drinks during weekend anyways.“

“It’s nice seeing you out again. I missed having someone intelligent and kind to talk to.“

“I heard Sugar had a ball at those meet and greets.”

“Fuck yeah I do.“

“Grab one off the shelf.” He nodded over to a hutch, and took a sip of his drink.

“Brought out the big guns. What’s the special occasion?“

“It’s Thursday?”

“Conrad.” Jax greeted as he walked into the room. “What are you mixing up.“

“Just whiskey.”

“The alpha of Wilmington, New York gave this to me.“

“I’m sure the Beta of Nick’s pack can answer that question on his own.“

“Can he?”

“Are you offering to take me out to lunch or dinner, Conrad.“
