“They’re both silent around people and usually keep quiet until if they have nothing to say...“

“Heard you had a very enlightening weekend.”

“You and Nick had a gossip session...“

“Ooh, I am feeling that second hand embarrassment.”

“Then don’t make them awkward. What did you mean that night?”

“I want to do this now, but I feel like I should point out that is the first time you’ve asked what I wanted to do this entire two weeks.”

“I’m trying not to but you can’t even look me in the eyes... Sammy... I made a mistake. I idiotically thought... I thought we were together. And I’m sorry.“

“What’s the point if we don’t sign our lives away.” She still refused to look at his face, but her peripheral vision caught his smile. 

“Do you know why you’re apologizing?”

“Sammy. I don’t want things to be awkward.“

Sam met his eyes for a moment before deciding that was too dangerous of a territory. “What are we doing tonight?”

“Pumpkins or Fright Night?”

Jaxtried and failed to keep the smile off of his face when Sam said ‘we’. “Pumpkins. Fright Night’s better during Halloween weekend”

“Hey! Wait up!”

“This is the first time anyone has ever showed any interest in me, and you’re getting mad at me for wanting to do it?”

“You get to meet people, I don’t. I don’t know why Odell asked me out, but he did and I’m going out with him.”

“What am I? Are you saying I’ve never, not once, shown any interest in you?“

“And what say do you have in that? You’re not my father.”

“Dammit, Sammy. Are you saying no to going out with me tonight?“

“Undo what, kid?”

“Don’t call me kid, old man.“

“What the hell do you mean I can’t go?”

“Exactly what I said Sammy. No. As in I don’t want you going.“

“Why are you being weird?”

“I’m not being weird.” Looking anywhere but her.

“This isn’t a joke Churchill.“

“No.” Sam frowned and fixed her dress. “Yeah, like a date date.” She short him a confused glare. “What do you mean no?”

“No.“ He said more confidently. “No as in you can’t go.“

“Dude I see you out here everyday. When are you actually in that shop?”

“I’m good at multitasking and I wouldn’t leave Sammy at it all alone. Even if that means I have to go in when the shop is closed and work some orders. “
