a really messy quick sketch of my Fitz and Fool in Kelsingra Fix-It Fanon Ideas i wanna share with this post so ya`ll know what i`m all about when i`ll be posting all my Kelsingra setting fanarts!!!

post RotE where Fitz does not get mortally infected and they both live happily ever after in Kelsingra

they become Elderlings themselves, Icefyre being Fitz` dragon counterpart because they are both two heavily depressed, pathetic disasters with trauma

somehow dragon magic can heal Fitz from the silver, thus the scars where he used to be silvered

Fitz also as before looks younger than his years, and the dragon magic adds to that

I have this idea that Fool-as-Amber travels for a few more years with the Bingtown traders before returning to Kelsingra, and Fitz has a few years to ponder and sort out his feelings about the Fool

maybe he finally makes actual friends? maybe he sees homophobia die in Kelsingra and slowly starts to heal from his own internalized homophobia?

then at some point he makes up his mind, once Fool returns, he SHALL pursue a romantic relationship with the Fool, one he has been longing for all his life but surpressed

Fool comes back in say, 5 years? but they have Elderling prolonged lifespans so that feels like no time at all

Fool brings Fitz a million tiny trinket presents, and apricot wine

they hang out a lot, healing their relationship slowly, living together, gardening, cooking, doing domestic stuff together, living life peacefully and slowly

Fitz brings Fool flowers daily because he regrets his behaviour of the past

they slow burn romance each other

Kelsingra citizens rejoce for Lady Amber is finally united with her long beloved trash husband who does not even deserve it

I‘m currently trying to improve my art as that was my biggest goal of this year after not properly drawing for years, so I decided to combine my anatomy and pose practice with some fanart to stay more motivated

Kettricken, having to navigate a foreign environment and culture with everyone's eyes on her. Verity in his tower, looking out as far as he can see, missing what's beside him. Shrewd, wasting away in his bed, surrounded by people waiting for him to die. Molly, working in the keep to secure a new life while the only person who knows her is a liar. Nighteyes, first in a cage and then in a secret refuge, warm now but angry still. Patience, holding onto who she is when so few even try to understand her. The Fool, bereft of safety, threads of fate slipping, speaking to deaf ears. Burrich, with the shadow of a man long gone burned into his eyes. Chade, the face of plague, ever hidden, never named. Even Regal, the last brother, othered by the web that connects all minds but still convinced that it's resolutely pointed towards him.

Oh, if only I could say something here. Actually, no — I can and should.

On November 7, I downloaded a book for the plane ride, on a friend’s recommendation. I knew nothing about it except that the main character was depressed and that somewhere down the line there would be a romance arc that, according to her, might interest me. I hadn’t seen any fan art, and of course I had no idea how much of it I would end up drawing myself (guys, my whole fan art collection only had two pieces of chinese novels, one Witcher drawing, and some random Homestuck thing from 2014).

But a few months later, I celebrated New Year reading ships — drawing Amber until almost midnight. During the valentine’s day party, I sat off to the side reading the Aslevjal part, and that same night I cried over the poem. The next day in the studio, I was so shattered I couldn’t even time the etching process properly, and instead of using gasoline, I tried to thin bitumen varnish with acetone.

For the past six months, I’ve remembered every event in my own life alongside the events of the books. I was sure that I’d outgrown this kind of hyperfixation when I left my teenage years behind — and I’m genuinely happy to have been wrong about that.

There’s one old video meme that I don’t know how to translate into English, and it came to mind while I was finishing the final book so I was just sitting there, stupidly smiling, stunned that the world I had lived in for half a year had just ended. But almost happy, too, with how it all turned out (sadly, the Wolf wasn’t a surprise — I got spoiled when I started suspecting Amber and went looking her up on the wiki). Maybe later I’ll collect my thoughts and talk about the ending as well.

Reading Robin Hobb, a fanzine by Maia Kobabe (2025). Because I finally finished reading this series and I needed to EXPRESS MYSELF. Also, can you believe I've been a fan of Fitz & The Fool for literally 20 years but I'd never drawn them before? Discovering the @realmoftheelderlings blog and realizing how much RotE art there is here on tumblr has really inspired me to want to draw them more! Full zine transcript below the cut.
