A roll in the shade 🐻 for my lovely supporter OhPossum!
Greater Sooty Owl (Tyto tenebricosa), family Tytonidae, order Strigiformes, Australia

Bear religion probably fucking rocks. You're a fucking bear, you're the deadliest thing on earth, once a year an endless supply of salmon just flings itself up the river to gorge on and then you nap for 3 months.
The most delicious food in the world is protected by tiny demons who can defend it from everyone except you. Your natural armor is thick enough that you can just eat the damn hive while they buzz around you. God's chosen animals right there
Regular bears tell stories of angel bears sent by the Bear God, pure white and twice as strong as any normal bear could be, who rule the summit of the Earth and kill all who stand in their path.
And they are right, those bears exist and totally do that. Humans just have fake angels as a cope.
love the idea of bears being the chosen species actually. having a near death experience and glimpsing heaven and realising it's just full of bears, no humans at all, humans not ensouled actually, humans an accidental byproduct of God's plan for bears
ive invented (note: dubious claim) something i call the bear diet which is mostly fruits and vegetables with fish as the main protein source and something like once a month you eat a few hyperprocessed foods of your liking because that is when you, the bear, raid a dumpster in the suburbs
after the hyperprocessed foods, do you take tranquilizers to simulate getting captured by animal control and returned to the wild?
i would settle for melatonin gummies but well. knock yourself out

🐾 Maystelid Day 2- American ermine (Mustela richardsonii) in winter landscape. ~1 hour and 15 minute speedpaint
Friday is here. You slogged your way through the week and are on the eve of the weekend. We're glad you're here with us. - - - - - - - - "Polar Bear Reflection" by San Diego Shooter is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 2.0.
heads up, this video looks to be ai:
the pup's bottom teeth suddenly shooting up out of its jaw into view for no apparent reason
the pup is laying in an unnatural position and looks like its upper body is sticking up out of the ground, as if its lower body is in a hole below it
the unnatural movement of the wolf on the left as it jerks its head up
what part of its body is that leftmost wolf resting its head on anyway? at first it looks like the wolf is curled into a ball but when it lifts its head, the ai converts this area into a vague amorphous shoulder-ish blob instead.
why does the left wolf's front "leg" look like a tail after it lifts its head? where are its front legs?
the fact that this isn't what wolf pups look like at that age / size
for cool wolf content that is actually real and supports conservation, check out the voyageurs wolf project instead. you can also watch live wolf cams from organizations like the international wolf center, donate to places like the california wolf center, symbolically adopt a wolf, or visit an accredited zoo that has wolves.
A sentiment I see a LOT across alterhuman+ spaces (mostly younger folks, but not always!) is folks worried about their identities fading, changing, not shifting as much, or are not putting as much energy into their identities. Folks are always asking how to “fix” themselves and how to force themself to shift more/etcetc.
I just want to put it out there and say, you aren’t broken! Identities ebb and flow and change throughout our lives and that is totally okay. this goes for any self identification, but I find it especially relevant here. If you feel yourself start to change, try and let it happen. attempting to cling onto something that you’re not in that moment is only going to make things worse. I know people who have identified for years as one species before suddenly changing halfway through their life, I know people who change identities on a regular basis, and I see almost every member of this community go through periods of connection and disconnection from their alterhumanity. It’s all completely normal and not something to be worried or ashamed about, and it doesn’t even mean that you were wrong before. I know it’d be so much easier if things stayed stagnant, but change will happen whether you want it to or not.
If you are ever concerned about the status of your identity, my dms are always open, my comments are always open. We’ll get through the changes together, okay? 🤝

if i had wings i would spend all of my time over the open ocean doing those ridiculous peregrine dives where you fall at top speed and then swerve up at the last second. thats literally all i need. society would never see me again
