One of my first attempts at a seascape. You would think living in Southern California that I’d manage to get out to the beach more often!

Just a moody sketch of a Danish windmill.
I returned to Rockhaven this morning. I’m happy with my tones in this one. I plan to display this painting along with my previous painting of Rockhaven as part of a group show with Weekend Warrior Painters at La Crescenta Library, opening July 8th. More details to come!
I’ve been wanting to paint at Rockhaven Sanitarium for a long time now, and finally had the pleasure to do so this morning. It’s a serene place in northern Glendale, CA with a lot of history. It’s normally closed to the public, and is currently being maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers hoping to restore the property to its former glory and open it for the community to enjoy on a more regular basis.
I’m honored to have been told by the groundskeeper that I was the first person to have created a plein air painting there.
Something different for my audience, but a return to form for me.

A look back to last week, painting in Sedona. So much beautiful landscape there to be inspired by! I could paint all day there...

I came up with the idea for this short many months ago, while on a trip to Idyllwild, CA. At the time, I didn’t know whether I would still be around at Titmouse in order to make the short for this year’s 5 Second Day, but luckily the timing just worked out. I don’t want to spill too many secrets in regards to what it’s about…yet. I’ll just let you know that it depicts a theory I have about a certain cryptozoological animal.
Special thanks goes out to my husband Jack, without whose compositing, sound and animation help, this short could have never been made.
For anyone who has and uses their Animation Guild Calendar, you might like to know (if you haven’t seen it already) where this month’s image came from.
Quick study at the LA River. I’m lucky to have this source of inspiration, essentially in my backyard.
Sometimes getting out of your house because it needs to be fumigated can be a good thing.
Painted last month at the Krotona Institute in Ojai, CA.
Enjoying my first Mother’s Day today, and getting back in the swing of things after giving birth earlier this year. This one was painted at the LA River while my baby girl was napping right by me in her stroller.
Back in 2007, I started my first job in animation as an artist on the HBO, animated show The Life and Times of Tim. I’m humbled to say that 8 years later, I found myself contributing to that show’s spiritual successor, Animals as a BG painter. Here are some shots I worked on, from episodes 3 and 4, “Cats” and “Dogs.” Special thanks to Carol Wyatt for the color direction.

Commemorated my first visit to @ZuZusTeahouse with a plein air painting.
The heat this summer in Southern California has kept me away from plein air landscape painting for much to long. I managed to squeeze this quick color study in over Labor Day weekend at Vasquez Rocks, right before the sun went down.
