…if we believe in liberty, if we want the air we breathe to remain plentiful and breathable, this is the art whose right to exist we must not only defend, but celebrate. Art is not entertainment. At its very best, it’s a revolution.

#3rdGeneration [How I See Ourselves]
When I look at our people today, I see a positive and negative change from the past and what our society has gone through over the last 50 years. I'm not going to get all deep about it but looking at the generation of our grand parents and the generation of our parents, they were pretty similar.. but looking at our generation and our little brothers and sisters, I see a major progression in expressing ourselves although I feel that we lack image due to how everyone wants to look grown but certain grown folk are out here doing what we should be doing (trying to still look and feel young).. I see an opportunity for us to use what our parent's generation left us (freedom, rights, education, clarity) and use it to express ourselves in this era.
College Kid being a blog that is housing a youth lifestyle with more of a self-proclaimed style to every image, post, design, music and video. It expresses what we live and go through as the youth on a daily basis, the local appeal relates solely to my people being the youth of South Africa, but the influence can most definetly be world wide. Why don't we unite since we always speak about it?..
The aim of the blog is to promote a positive view to what it means to be young and free and at the same time express our talents and interests, from music to events to video's everything is based on our generation and the things we as south african young people aspire into. Why look into outside sources that barely have relevance to what we aim to achieve and why follow what old achievers did in their generation? They started when they were young like us (Jay-z, Russel Simmons all those people 'everyone wants to be like'), for them to establish themselves into something that young people aspire to today? Amazing.. but I feel that it's clouding our vision to break lose and have ourselves an identity too...
Hence we, as the #3rdGeneration with more resources, aspirations and endless possibilities, we can achieve what we want, beter our society and uplift our country, family or ourselves because at the end of the day, we are the future of this country... don't play catch up :) Let's make a killing now.

REVIEW: BACK TO THE CITY 2012…
by @ChristyBella_Nu
Source: http://bella-nulove.tumblr.com/post/21997874050/review-back-to-the-city-2012
April 27th 2012 saw all Hip Hop addicts and likers of things flock to Newtown, Johannesburg to not only celebrate 18 years of freedom and democracy in South Africa, but also to celebrate and share in the freedom to express our pure undying love for one of the world’s biggest music cultures: HIP HOP
So me, my cousin Chelsea and our good peoples started our day off at the Hip Hop Summit at Museum Africa, engaging in a discussion about the current state of Hip Hop in S.A, learning from a room of good folk who’ve been in the industry for a number of years, who’ve seen Hip Hop grow and evolve to what it is today. Folk from all walks of life that have experienced Hip Hop in so many different ways.
Indeed, we were all inspired to do more for Hip Hop in S.A. I personally reached a myriad of epiphanies from the discussion, as I’m sure the rest of the folk in the room did too.
Afterwards, we headed out to get our tags and join the rest of the city for what was about to be the most epic day ever!!
Skaters, B-Boys, Graff Artists did their thang… the vibe was indeed a happy one! There were a myriad of stalls with folk selling some pretty awesome product, joints for days and food for the munchies. LOL. But what we were all really looking forward to was the line up of performances.
The organisers of the event kept to their promise and delivered some of the dopest MCs to bless the culture with their talent! OOOOHHH LAWD!!! Their energy was indescribable! THEY GOT THE CROWD INTO A FRENZY! Wild and crazy excitement!
We were blessed with talents such as Hymphatic Thabz (my personal favourite) SCF, Kwesta, Pro, HHP, Reason and so many more! We paid a tribute to Hip Hop as a whole, to the old skool, to all the greats that have come, gone, and are still here.
We made new friends, caught up with old ones, made connections for future endevours and reveled in nothing but pure love and happiness!!
I then told y’all that it’s bigger than biggest!! I wish it would be more than only once a year though.
My love and passion for the love of my life grew tenfold… At one point I swear I was gonna burst! Hip Hop is so much more than just a dope beat with clever wordplay…
It’s a way of life. It’s an art! An outlet for one’s innermost feelings; He/She is a spokesperson for the common man and woman, for society as a whole! It’s one of God’s most pure blessings! It’s family… It’s embedded in our DNA!
Hip Hop is so large and diverse! It’s so damn powerful! It’s exceeds and breaks all boundaries of the mind, heart and soul. It reaches deep and opens up your Third Eye…your consciousness!
Back To The City proved it… S.A proved it! 40 000 people proved it!
What I can conclude from it though is that we truly are in love… In deep passionate love with this genre, this culture! This man/woman, god/goddess we know as HIP HOP!
LIVE, LOVE, HIP HOP!!
*peace & blessings
love & cinnamon*

EP: [Dry Run] By Page.
Space Age’s Page, finally drops he’s latest EP, titled DRY RUN. The artist who hails from Spruitview in the East Rand has BEEN shaking grounds with he’s singles ‘The Reason’, ‘Love Me Now’ and now with ‘Fan Mail’ which features I-Farah. I recently asked him about he’s EP and this is what he had to say:
“Dry Run is a promotional EPK that I released to create some buzz around the name Page. As the title suggests it’s the calm before the storm. I’m in studio working on my first official Mixtape title “Champagne Dreams” which is scheduled to drop later this year. We released 3 singles from Dry Run, Let Em Know, The Reason and Love Me Now featuring I-Farah which became the first single to get radio airplay. The tape has been well received way beyond expectation since its release on May 4th 2012 on www.Cheka.co.za and we hoping for better results with the release of Champagne Dreams”.
Follow Page on twitter @Page_SpaceAge for updates on he’s music and performances.
