Found an old 3D setup of a bathroom I never did anything with - and I've been in a weird kind of headspace where I just want to sit down and do repetitive work, so what better than meticulously lining a bunch of bathroom tiles!

The original 3D model and sketch are from 2019 I think, intended as a promare fanart:
Moved things around a bit and changed the poses (originally i was going to have lio putting bandages on his feet and couldn't really find a good reason for a similar pose for derek). Also added a mirrored setup in case i wanted an angle where the reflection in the mirror would be showing:
Sketched over some pose references for stiles (bc the 3D models i'm using clip and deform whenever the arms are moved up over shoulder-height π€¨), a pose idea i ended up scrapping and sketches from two different angles of the 3D model to figure out which one i wanted to go with:
(Actually now I'm looking at these again i'm mad i didn't go for the bottom right one, i really like it argh. Scheduling this post on friday let's see if i don't end up doing something with it before then and add to this post LOL)
Anyway, settled on an angle > sketching out the background:
2nd round of sketching - refining the background and characters (and a nightmare-looking grid for the bathroom tiles) :
Lines > remembering that I should probably decide on a crop at some point > redo the crop later anyway (and fixing Derek's back after heroically trying not to for hours lol) > monochrome shading of the background > coloring the characters last since I wanted the colors here to fit the background
Thought it'd be an interesting process to share :)
Sometimes I will have a very clear visual of what i want to draw and get straight to it, but most of the time I find it fun to recreate the pose and environment i have in mind in my 3D program and try to figure out if there's a more interesting angle to draw it from.
Usually I'll take a few screenshots from different angles and sketch over them - usually going a few rounds of sketching > going back and altering the 3D model a bit > new screenshot > new sketch.
Discarded sketch from yesterday's mermay drawing that I decided was too fun to not do something with - was almost done with the entire thing when i realized the finger guns would be a fun addition and then could not choose between the two poses! Enter @renmackree who suggested an animated gif because she has the hugest brain and is always right πβ€οΈ
Originally inspired by the same clown fish design but somehow during the sketching and lining it morphed more into something akin to a koi bc idk how fish Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
even after doing that i still couldn't decide between the two poses for the full image so you get both:

Hey there, Cole, my favorite author! I've been rewatching some TW scenes and I'm shocked with something I didn't notice before: the place where Jackson gets bitten. WTF! A few inches down and Derek would be sucking Jackson off, not giving him the bite! Can you comment on that? What do you think about? What production had in mind by doing that?
It's definitely a horny Hale type of thing. Doesn't Peter bite Scott in the same place too? Peter def taught Derek that.
