Hey!

What story are you writing? Not the plot, the essence of it. What is it supposed to feel like? What is the texture of the reading? Is it soft? An bit rough like sacks? Maybe warm like cotton? Or cruel like silk and wool?

Ohhhh, shit, I love this question.

I’m gonna be real basic here - fire. It’s pretty to look at, and it warms your hands on a cold winter day. It will also melt your skin, liquidify it like wax, if you get too close. Burnt sweetness of a marshmallow dripping off a stick. Woolen blanket caught on fire. The only light in the darkness. The light that sometimes kills.

Okay I’m being mildly sentimental and infantile here but partially this imagery turned out pretty cool ahaha

If anyone is interested in becoming my proofread (just a few chapters for now) please dm me. The book is an attempt at modern mythology, is somewhat philosophical, touches on the subject of war aaand is also quite dark. Arguably 18+, at least imho.

I am confident about where the plot of my book is going, but I can’t stop doubting it writing’s quality. Would anyone be interested in me dm-ing them a few chapters for feedback? I have recently realized that there is almost no new mythology. As one does, I have thus decided to create some of my own in a mythological fiction novel.

Since mythology and philosophy were always highly connected I meant to ask: if you were to create mythological creatures or gods, but of a modern kind, who would you create and why? Which features do you think shape our modern society and world enough to be impersonated?

So we just stop feeling to protect ourselves from being overwhelmed, no? I’ve noticed it in many. It’s just as sad as all the other news, though. I’m tired of seeing numb people, even if I do realize the necessity.

We started calling most feelings “being sentimental”. But I like being sentimental. In love, in life, in death.
