but the key here is that the protag *earned it* both in a watsonian and doylist sense. these two perspectives aligning in a single moment will have the reader taking her on-the-spot invention of this absurdly overpowered killing spell completely at face value, to the point where you might not even remember the joke lurking behind it.

in-story, it works because she is built up to be specifically only good at causing ridiculous amounts of destruction and jack shit else. she can barely cast a spell to clean her damn room, but she can sure as hell set off a supervolcano without breaking a sweat. she's already killed two of these nigh-unkillable undead monster fuckers the hard and slow way. and the soft magic system is well-established to allow for channeling the simple logic of "i've already proven i can kill these things" into a spell. because magic is the art of convincing the universe to agree with you. and it's not hard to convince someone you can do something you've already done twice.

and that leads directly into the doylist perspective. the author knows the reader has been fully convinced the protag can do this, so there's no need to make a spectacle of it. she ends the "fight" in three words because that is all that's needed at this point. there are more complex problems happening that can't be solved by the walking magical nuke that this character embodies, so it's entirely fine for her to fully step into the role and claim her place *as* the walking magical nuke. it doesn't help her. in fact, it arguably makes her situation worse.
