I just started back at college so I brought a brand new bullet journal as I got too busy to finish my last one. I feel like this year may be the same but Iâm going to try and make my Bujo more of a priority this year as it takes me to a much calmer placeđ

Notes to self for the new year
⢠Be kind - Not everyone around you will return your kindness, but its best to accept and tolerate others because you never know what troubles they may be facing.
⢠Be honest - Admit to your mistakes. Never be afraid of opening up to others; youâre not the only one facing difficulties.
⢠Work hard - Hard Work ALWAYS pays off and the work you do today could save a life tomorrow.
⢠Fear not the future - Live in the present moment. Do what you can now and what will be will be. If this means avoiding homework in order to focus on your mental welfare, so be it.
⢠Donât be deterred by others - Life is not a competition. You may take longer than others to reach a destination, but you will get there regardless. This is your life-make it.
⢠Avoid toxicity - If you feel let down, demotivated or just generally hurt by someone who claims to be your friend, let them go. Theyâre good people, they are just not good for you.
⢠Donât claim that this is âyour year to shineâ - Take each day as it comes, you will have rough days and you will have good days but no day goes wasted. Donât put that pressure on yourself to make the year the most successful. Again, what will be will be and everything happens for a reason.

if you donât love yourself, read this. please.
You donât love a person because theyâre perfect. No one is close to perfection. Neither do you love them because theyâre âperfectly imperfectâ - nope, none of that crap.
You love a person instead because they try to be perfect. Thatâs the breakthrough.
You fall madly for the little things they do. You love them because they share their stationary supplies even with someone they donât particularly like just because they feel they should be a little more kind. You love them because they remind their friends that theyâre loved at least five times a week. You love them because they try so hard to make people around them feel included, even when itâs hard to do, but they do it because they canât let anyone feel left out or alone. You love them because they try to get this self care thing down, combing their wild hair, moisturizing, doing all of that even though they arenât crazy about it.
You donât love them because theyâre the kindest, most loving, humblest and self-respecting entity youâve come across, because you know they arenât and canât ever be. You love them because they strive to be perfect.
You fall in love with them because in doing so, they bravely step into new territory, trump their limitations, and get just a little bit better each day. And to you, that genuine effort to grow is reason enough.

This completely changed my attitude towards self love. I had always, always, told others proud and loud that I loved myself madly, yet whenever I was alone a small, negative, sadistic voice would begin pointing out all my flaws and weaknesses. This voice was so faint that at first I was able to ignore it, but soon I realized I couldnât continue on like this.
On one of my worst days, I realized I didnât have to be the perfect version of me that I had envisioned in my utopian mind to fully accept myself. I didnât have to listen to that fallacious voice telling me I was arrogant or unkind, and hence unworthy of love.
I could also fall for the little things I did that melted away my flaws. I could love myself, not because I was the most selfless person around, but because I tried my best to be more warm-hearted and open-handed everyday; I made others comfortable, I influenced others to find their gifts and strengths. I could love myself, not because I was the humblest, but because I always locked away my ego when I knew I was in the wrong.
I realized I could fall for myself the way I had fallen for my past lovers and friends. I could carefully note the small things I did, and love myself because I tried to brush past my flaws each day â just like Iâd noted and loved the things that the people I loved did.
The thing is, no one is perfect. No one will ever be. Thereâs a saying that goes like this: âPerfectionism is self-abuse of the highest order.â Those who chase it will never, EVER be able to accept themselves. So donât be so hard on yourself. Donât look at your flaws and conclude that you donât deserve love. Instead, find fulfillment in reaching for a better vision of you.
Love yourself because you try, try so hard, to get close to your perfect. Tell yourself that that is reason enough for a person to be loved. That that is what makes you truly flawless, inside and out.
I finally realized I could love myself just for the reasons I had fallen in love with the other people in my life.
I finally realized I could love myself.
And I did love myself.
If you ever forget why youâre still studying at 2am..
Remember itâs not just a matter of grades.
Maybe youâre studying so you can correctly diagnose those patients before theyâre told itâs too late.
Maybe youâre memorizing the mistakes of history in the hope of never seeing them repeated.
Maybe youâre understanding how the law works so you can defend those who need it.Â
Maybe youâre absorbing as much information as you can so you can pass on your love of learning to others.
What youâre doing today can change our world tomorrow, so keep at it.

cognac - blonde hair, watching french new wave films, black coffee, rose pink blushes, pearl necklaces, daydreaming about being in love in a foreign country, choppy bangs
rum - tousled hair, talking about greek mythology, sound of ocean waves, echoing laughter, messy ponytails, hawaiian shirts over black bikinis, dancing alone in your room
gin - empty perfume bottles, watching the sunset in your balcony, vintage lace shirts, petting street cats, jazz music playing from a distance, playing poker with your friends

forgive yourself. whether you fail a test, eat too many cookies, say the wrong thing, fail a class, or spend a whole day in bed â learn to forgive yourself. the next day will be better. the next day will be a day closer to your next success. you can do it.

Truth is, you canât make a rainbow without both the sun and the rain. Youâre strong. Strong enough to battle through this hurt you might be feeling. You have love. You have battled through moments you thought you wouldnât. And youâre still standing. Donât ever forget that.
