Snow speckled the roof of the house with its dazzling white brilliance, sparkling almost mockingly against the dying embers of the setting sun as Josh let out a sigh as his mother prattled on, his phone tucked under his chin. She had implored him to make sure that you got home before the snow had gotten too bad but Josh couldn’t care. You two had agreed to watch the Star Wars Trilogy tonight and he wasn’t about to let some damn snow storm intervene. How bad could it get anyways?

“Yeah, yeah I heard. Look I gotta go already mom, kinda in the middle of something.”

Hearing the remnants of her shrill voice dying off as Josh hung up the phone without so much as a goodbye, he rejoined you on the couch an almost apologetic or rather sheepish expression on his face as his weight sank into the plush material of the couch.

“God she always takes forever, I dunno how many times I’ve told her I know it’s gonna snow.” Throwing up his hands in a exaggeratory manner. “I mean it’s like fuckin’ Hoth out there without a Tauntaun in sight.”

Glancing back to you as if for approval for his well timed reference to the movie you two were sadly interrupted watching he falters when he sees how cozy you looked still bundled under the covers, your hair unkempt from the cold winds that you two were caught in earlier. Clearing his throat he tries to hide how his stomach fills with butterflies every time he sees a new side of you, reaching for the remote and hitting resume as he shifted his weight closer to yours, flashing a rare thankful smile as you parted the blanket for him.

“We were just getting to the best part in this one,” Josh points out, trying more to distract himself from how he felt himself melt into your touch as soon as you cuddled up to him.

“Weren’t you just saying that about the Yoda training arc Luke had?” Looking up at him with a knowing look he can’t help but let out a small laugh.

“Yeah well, second best part, ok?” He rolls his eyes but there’s no real malice behind it as he readjusts, resting his head on top of yours, breathing in the gentle scent of your shampoo as he noted how soft your hair was.

“Pfft, ok fair.” Laughing with him at the playful banter between you two his previous tension leaves him, his weight pressing comfortably against your own on the couch as the sound of Light Saber Battles drown out the billowing wind of the storm outside.

As the night crept along, the warmth of the two of you under the blanket all snuggled up only caused Josh’s weight to slump even more against yours, his own arms around you far less stiff thanks to sleep trying to overtake him. Glancing to the side you can see his warm brown eyes trying to droop shut a few times only for Josh to force them open again.

“Hey, we can always finish the last movie in the morning y’know.”

“Mhmm,” bleary eyed he looks up at you, moving one of his hands to rub at his eyes, the movement momentarily pushing his glasses up to his forehead. “It’s only one more movie though, you’re just….just too damn comfortable.”

Laughing as he says it like it’s something you did on purpose you let him try and soldier through it already knowing the unfortunate outcome that would befall him. As the movie continued to play on Josh tried to force himself to keep his eyes on the screen but soon enough that gentle weight was yet again leaned against your own, his arms wrapped around you with his gentle snoring joining the sounds of the movie as they faded into the background.

“Good night.” You murmur softly, brushing a few stray hairs away from his face, watching as he slept peacefully.

“Mhmm…G’night. Love you.”

Bill

As much as he wouldn’t admit it having a girlfriend would instantly bolster his confidence by tenfold.

Having a partner not only gives him bragging rights but automatically makes him feel that he’s accomplished more than his fellow club mates.

He’s not any less rude and crude with you but he wouldn’t necessarily go out of his way to poke at you as he does with his friends.

It’s just that he definitely won’t keep his negativity nor opinions to himself and he’d want you to either agree with him or be able to argue well enough to get him to acquiescence even if it’s only a temporary victory on your part.

However, this doubles as a pro as Bill will defend you just as viciously as he does himself.

An insult on you is an insult on his choice of a partner and that’s just unacceptable.

Of course along with this comes his terrible jealousy that he will claim he most certainly “does not have,” It’s just that other guys shouldn’t look at what clearly belongs to him.

He tries to avoid vulnerability as often as he can, using bluffs to cover up most of the cracks in his mask that you might glimpse as you get closer, but the more you learn his quirks the more you come to realize that more than anything he’s more scared than anything.

He doesn’t want to admit it but he’s terrified of you leaving him for someone better and would do whatever he can to assure that this doesn’t happen.

Now of course depending on his mood, Bill can get quite drastic at times, sometimes even considering the outcome over your own feelings.

But he’d rather die than hurt you even if he can’t say it.

He’s not great at being mushy or vulnerable with his words especially but he would try to show his care with physical contact and his actions even if they seem rather inconsequential such as bothering to remember the lore about your interests.

Sure he’d claim that any soft touches are more about showing his ownership and that remembering things like that are no big deal when he forces you to basically learn his but it genuinely is a lot on his part.

He’d just have to learn how to open up and be affectionate over time. Bill desperately needs a positive influence in his life that would encourage him to grow and change and with enough coaxing and genuine love he could change for the better for a girlfriend of his own.

Josh

Josh wouldn’t believe you genuinely liked him for the longest time even after dating for so long.

His self confidence is cripplingly low even if he would be privy to brag to his friends like Bill would, acting like it’s only right he gets a partner of his own after all he’s been put through.

Acting as if it’s some gift from the universe aside though, Josh genuinely does love you. He’s just far too self absorbed to always show it as well as he means.

His interests are his lifeblood so similar to the others he’d essentially force you into everything he cares about and would take it to heart if you didn’t want to.

Even if he doesn’t admit it, he’s quite sensitive and gets worried over small rejection meaning something more. Even simple canceling of plans or late replies in texts can get him to spiral thanks to his own hyperactive imagination.

And unlike Bill or Pete, Josh is easy to rile up, often showing when he’s insecure or even embarrassed at times by getting snappy or upset.

Of course, he’s just as awkward as the rest but like Bill he’d never want to hurt you. Hell, he’s self aware to know he’d never get anyone as good as you to love a guy like him.

Even if he doesn’t say that part out loud, he’ll still try to show it in whatever ways he can.

He’s less callous than Pete and Bill so he’d be more privy to classic shows of “chivalry” and “treating” his girlfriend. That and hopefully it’d assure you to never leave him.

He’ll open the door for you, and buy you small gifts time to time and while the gesture can seem insignificant and clumsy he does mean well. Sure he might sometimes forget to hold the door for you and he may neglect to hide the fact that he totally spent more money on a Gundam kit for himself at the same place he bought his gift but he is trying.

He’s just a bit too stuck in his own head and over sensitive so he’d need a lot of guidance and reassurance.

Speaking of, besides verbal reassurance Josh is always relieved whenever you initiate anything. It reminds him that you really do like him, that you don’t mind touching him, that you’re attracted to him as much as he is to you.

He can get stuck in a negative mood and will most certainly keep being overly critical and harsh but with enough support on your end he may be able to see things in a more positive light than Bill or Pete could.

Just don’t expect him to ever lose the few traits he shares with his mother (even if hearing that he shares any with her would kill him). He will almost always be a sensitive type but with enough dedication it can turn from one of his many weaknesses to a strength of his.

Pete

If you think Bill is avoidant of being vulnerable than you got another thing coming with Pete.

Because of his upbringing and own skewed view on women and affection in general Pete mostly shows his love physically.

He’s happy to put his hands all over you in public without a care once he gets enough confidence to do so, not caring if anyone sees. After all it’s him laying claim to whats his.

Sure he’s not exactly well spoken. He’s crass and rude and perverted but he wouldn’t want to hurt you on purpose (aside from in a kinky sense).

He just loses himself to anger often and would rather die than expose his weaknesses that lay under his fragile exterior.

But like Josh, Pete’s rather sensitive deep down, especially when it comes to his interests. The way that they’ve been rejected and shunned is like a reflection of his own existence so even if it’s through force he’d make you partake in all of his favorite gory flicks and other horror related escapades.

He’s not affectionate almost ever with his words except for in rare moments but like Bill he can use his own sharp tongue to your advantage.

He’d fight anyone who dared to diss his girl. Not only because it could be like some reflection on how they thought about his choices but because he genuinely loves you.

He may forget important days like anniversaries and might not be the type to get you flowers when he should but he’s always there when you need him and if he had to he’d drop anything to be there for you.

He’s just much like the rest self absorbed in his own way and focused on trying to solve all his problems with his fists and later his dick.

He really needs a chance to feel safe in order to be vulnerable so it’d take time but unlike with Bill it wouldn’t be an agonizing task.

With enough care and patience Pete could tell you care and he isn’t against sharing more of himself if he was certain you wouldn’t think less of him.

Just treat the fragile heart he gifts to you gently. He may be loyal as hell but Pete is also a fighter and isn’t above having a spat time to time.

And like everyone other than Jerry he isn’t good at apologizing either. The most he’ll do is try to make it up in one of his odd ways whether it be letting you pick a movie for once to watch (it doesn’t even need to be horror), buying you a snack you always enjoy, or even make up sex (if you’re up for it).

Hell, whatever he needs to do for you to keep you with a sad sack like himself he’s determined to get done. Even if the more vulnerable parts have to come in time with enough persistence he’ll give in.

Jerry

Yet again arguably the most normal out of the bunch, even if he is still riddled with poor self esteem and anxieties over your relationship.

Every little thing made Jerry nervous. He’s worried if he said something wrong, if his interests were too cringy, if he looked gross, if his voice sounded weird when you two were speaking, and anything else under the sun.

He needs constant reassurance and comfort from you to feel like this isn’t just some dream he’s in until he becomes more accustomed to being with you.

Once he is comfortable he’ll get more used to being able to initiate without feeling like he’s utterly dying. Okay scratch, that. He’s more determined to initiate intimacy despite feeling like he’ll die of embarrassment.

Even if it’s with trembling hands and stuttered words Jerry is determined to do good by you by day one trying to hide his less savory traits until you two are along quite a ways.

He doesn’t want you thinking less of him for his interests especially when he could get kinda heated about them.

But like everyone else his hobbies are still a part of him and he’d love nothing more than to share them with you.

He’s genuinely the only one who gives you much of a choice about jumping into his hobbies with him but he’d be overjoyed if you gave them a chance even if you didn’t like them nearly as much as he did.

Sure I mean, he’s still part of the Eltingville Club so he’s got his own bouts of negativity and jealousy time to time but with enough positivity in his life that’s easy to change for the better.

Jerry’s happy so long as you’re there to support him and let him prattle off time to time about the things he loves.

And as long as he feels that you understand that and truly believe in him he’ll be the most loyal and caring partner that he can physically manage to be for you.
