This is so interesting because with his looks it COULD happen (and canon does have America having a youtube channel and having been in a commercial) but at the same time Himaruya has him as unfashionable, and his personality just gives an air of "I don't care about that."

I think I personally have meshed the two together by the idea that when Nations forst go public, Al had an idea of what he should be, and he DID all of these things. He wore Chanel, bla bla.

Nowadays, though, I just feel like Al's clothes are old. When it gets a hole he patches it up himself. Fashion isn't his niche. Initially magazines were poking fun at him all the time, but in this culture where making your own clothes and fast fashion co-exist, a lot of people think of Alfred as a fashion icon for the former as opposed to the latter. (Except he's not doing it on purpose).

My Al is famous for education related things. He's been on PBS Eons talking about dinosaurs! On his own channel he has a series on "how to pass x class" that goes through the current American syllabus but in a really concise, educational way. He's won accolades for it, and a whole generation of Americans claim he helped them pass x class when they had a shit teacher.

For adults, he also has cool videos on how to cook simple dishes with cheap ingredients and also does experimental dishes (EVERYONE READ ALL-AMERICAN COOKING). He also does tutorials on simple repairs so that people don't throw away appliances that only need simple fixes!

However, Alfred needs entertainment, so he made a joke of it. Everyone has been told it means something different. The micros think it's "Freedom," Arthur thinks it's "Florence," Francois thinks it's "Francis" and that Alfred named himself after him, Ivan thinks there is a name but that it's being kept from him, Yao thinks it's "fredAl," Eduard thinks it's "FauxTeauJeighnnyk" (said like "photogenic") and is baffled by this choice, Feliciano thinks it's "Futon" like the couch, Kiku things it's "Franklin," Sadik thinks it's "Filipe," Nat thinks it's "FuckYeah," etc. etc. etc. A mixture of names ranging from perfectly normal to odd to did you name yourself that because you lost a bet?

He has told all of these people that it's a top secret only THEY have been trusted with. They should feel honored to be privy to the secret of the F!

And if any of them raise questions and confront him? Distract by asking stupid questions to derail the conversation.

(don't get me wrong, I hate cigarettes, but I think it's such a nice detail when I see it in fanart/fanfic in general)
