There were never real plans for a season 3. The team very casually kicked some ideas around for what it might be, but we knew with the direction the studio was headed and all the other titles on the roster, it was highly unlikely we’d return to Gotham again and if we ever did it would be years in the future. Telltale was about to try and move away from the various issues that come with doing big name licensed games, and Batman (despite it being awesome) didn’t make enough money to justify the cost of producing it.

We knew this going into S2s ending, and wanted to make it feel like it could be an ending to the series. I’m pretty happy with how it ends. It doesn’t tie up every loose end but Bruce and Alfred’s arc that started in S1 ends in S2 exactly how we intended. (and that joker shit got as gay as I could possibly make it)

OH BOY ROBIN: So briefly, the premise isn’t which Robin, it’s that you play as the UBER ROBIN

Basically: You play as a young boy with murdered parents and in an attempt to get your vengeance, you cross paths with Batman/Bruce (depending on S2 ending) and are put on a vigilante trajectory. 

The twist is: this boy can become MULTIPLE Canon Robins from the comic books. You have a choice of mentor figure, and depending on who you choose to follow in the end, you can end up playing as Robin, Nightwing, Red Hood and so on (budget depending). 

Do you value the classic No Murder style of Batman and stick with Bruce, becoming Robin (or even a new Batman)? Or would you rather punish the criminals and not give them a second chance, following Vigilante Joker and becoming a Red Hood? Or go it alone and become Nightwing? It would be up to you! (as would the consequences of your path…) 

Will probably never happen, but it’s fun to dream. I was really hoping to get away from playable Bruce since he’s well explored, and is VERY restricted in what he can do morally and still be considered the same character, so starting as a younger character with less canon expectations would allow for much more freedom in the kind of choices that would be allowed.
