Random Missives

I wish I could find some good running mixes that have Sonic the Hedgehog music as a unifying theme.  That, or Megaman.  What better role models could a runner ask for?  One’s super fast, and the other, while not exceptionally speedy, always looks like he’s got somewhere he needs to get with a purpose when he moves.

Why am I still awake.  I passed the “nodding off sitting in my chair stage” hours ago.

One thing I’ve realized as I’ve grown older as a single man and my friends have grown older as husbands, wives, and parents is that I can’t really discuss the zombie apocalypse with any kind of fervor anymore. By doing so, it implicitly suggests that in all likelihood, their burgeoning relationships and families would be a casualty of this.  Simply saying I’m ready for the zombies is tantamount to me saying I’m looking forward to the time when everyone you love is dead or undead.  I have found most of those friends non-receptive of such talk as of late.

I rather quite enjoy ranting and bellowing without anyone in particular paying attention to me.  Its kind of liberating.  By no means do I see this as cathartic or some inner journey of the soul that will reveal anything of worth.  Its more akin to standing on a mountaintop in the middle of nowhere and just yelling at the top of your lungs all the things you’ve always wanted to say.  You’re not really bothering anyone, and you don’t have to deal with someone telling you to shut the hell up. Its kind of a win/win situation.  If and when I ever do have anyone following my blog, I feel that I may have something to prove, which will in all likelihood changing the entire dynamic.  When drama and entertainment are expected, people have a tendency to be overly dramatic and incredibly non-entertaining.
