Walk
â˘Ulf was Andreaâs first dog and she hadnât done any prior research. She hadnât done any research since adopting him either. What she did know was that she needed to feed him and take him for walks. So thatâs what she did. Daily, she would go for a walk with her new friend.
On one of these walks, Andrea was taken off course when Ulf bolted in one direction with such force that she was unable to stop him. This had happened a few times and she still hadnât gotten proper control of him.
Jogging to keep up with her energetic pup, she was lead to another person. If Andrea was the type who got embarrassed easily, then surely she would be embarrassed when Ulf found his way to the personâs rear and started sniffing.
âSorry about him. I just got him and Iâm still figuring out how to control him.â
Shopping Spree
Maybe a shopping spree wasnât the smartest way to get over having your house turned into a crisp. However, it seemed to make Rachel feel better. That was what mattered, right? Plus, it was good to put money back into the cycle. At least, these were the things Rachel told herself to justify all of the purchases.Â

Pam took a moment to think about her name. Andrea. That was a nice name, not that sheâd ever say that. That was something your aunt would say, not Pam. Her thoughts were quickly interrupted by Andreaâs remarks, which struck true much more than Andrea might be able to interpret from her mostly stony face. Something clicked inside of Pam, and she began to spill out some of her feelings too. It was like a contagion, except for catharsis. âI do know what youâre talkinâ about, Andrea. Iâve felt that for fifteen, twenty, twenty-five years or so. Even more then that, Iâve known someone who wouldâve been oh-so much better off, possibly even happier, if I was gone.â She remarked with some measure of stability in her voice. She could be talking of Penny, she could be talking ofâŚ.. him, but she was sure that what she said was entirely true.Â
â˘Andrea tended to avoid talking about herself, but something about this situation made her lips loose and she wasnât even drunk. Even more awkward was listening to other peopleâs problems. It was only fair after this woman decided to sit down with Andrea that she listen.Â
âThatâs a long time...â was all she could muster. Andreaâs loneliness suddenly felt insignificant and minimal. It had only been a few years since she left the crew and started experiencing this loneliness.  âHow do you cope?â

Pam also had a feeling of heaviness come over her while she waited for some sort of reply from Andrea. It was the longest ten seconds that Pam had ever felt, aside from a few particularly tense moments earlier in her life. Come to think of it, Pam had felt this heaviness before. When she was leaving Pelican Town, Pam felt this same feeling when she was talking with Penny. After waking up from her daydreaming and noticing the head nod, Pam had at least enough sense to realize that the silence was less than comforting for Andrea, and decided that sheâd help her out a bit. After racking her brain for some sort of conversational topic, Pam hit upon something that might make for some decent talk, if nothing else. And, besides, Pam was pretty eager to learn the truth behind her request. âSo, ahhâŚ. whatâs your name, girl? Mineâs Pam.â
â˘Now that Andrea had essentially snapped out of her funk, she was realizing the situation she had put herself in; alone with a stranger, forced into small talk. What a nightmare. At least the woman wasnât making idle chat about the weather or something else inconsequential.Â
âAndrea,â she answered softly. Before she could stop herself, words began pouring from her mouth, her voice threatening to crack. âDo you ever feel lonely, Pam? Like your alone in the world and no one would care if you were gone.â That wasnât entirely true. Andrea was sure her parents would care, but she was already gone from their lives. She could be dead for all they knew. Maybe they had moved on.

junk or treasure | sofia & andrea
â˘ď˝Ą áŚÂ âđŤardon?â Sofia graced her chest with her fingers, taken aback by the unexpected miscommunication occurring between the two; first of all, she was not speaking to this woman who appeared from another space in the store - but upon further inspection, though, it became clear that she must be an employee who worked here at the store. Oh, perfect! - with this realization, the confusion etched into her facial expression was replaced by relief - a sincere smile tracing her lips.
âđarewell,â she greeted the woman with a small wave, âmay I please have some help? I am seeking to refurbish some of the electronics in my homes and boats, but⌠I am knowledgeable about what to look for. It is a little underwhelming to see your selection here! âŞâ
â˘This woman was confusing. She came in and said goodbye as if calling out for someone in. Andrea was sure that she had just come in so why was she saying goodbye? Maybe this woman was just as confused as Andrea.
Now she was saying farewell? Was she going to leave or not? Despite her words, the woman stayed and continued to talk. This woman was either on something or needed to be. Andrea let out a hefty sigh as the woman went on with her strange speech.
âIâm sorry about that, mâaam. If thereâs anything I can do to help you, Iâll be right here.â Hopefully the woman would just leave and be someone elseâs problem.
lone wolves
â˘Ever since she left the pirate life behind her, loneliness has taken control over Andrea. One night stands did little to alleviate the ache, only relieving her pain momentarily. She had never been one for friends. It hadnât bothered her much up until this point because she used to always have at least one person around, be it her parents or her crew.
Now where was she? Sitting alone in her dingy apartment. She supposed she could go out dancing or drinking, but even Andrea was growing tired of the same old routine. Her jobs were unfulfilling and her only hobbies were becoming mundane as well.
Deciding on a walk to clear her head, Andrea put her hair in a braid and headed out. There wasnât much nature in Leuda, so she opted to walk along the street and sightsee some shops. What else was there really to see?Â
Something inside of her compelled her to stop in front of the pet store. She had always wanted a dog. Not one of those small, yappy dogs though. She much preferred the bigger dogs. Maybe not too big that she couldnât control it. What was she thinking? She couldnât get a dog. Not in her tiny apartment. Well, she didnât have much furniture so there was some space...No, no, out of the question. There was no way she was getting a dog. It couldnât hurt to look though.
Andrea passed by the cats, not at all interested in the evil, little creatures and headed to the dogs. There were all sorts of animals, including some she thought it was illegal to own, but what did she know about the law?
The puppies were cute, but Andrea wanted to see the big dogs. There was a black lab, a golden retriever, a doberman, and a German shepherd. Although she liked the doberman, it was the German shepherd that really caught her eye. Maybe it was a bit on the nose for her, but she couldnât help it. Those pointed ears, those round brown eyes, that big black snout, and that beautiful fur coat. It was exactly the kind of dog Andrea had always wanted.Â
When she looked into those chocolate eyes pleading at her, she knew she couldnât leave without that dog. Impulsively, Andrea tracked down an employee and asked how much for the dog. In a stroke of good luck, she remembered the coupons she won from the casino and miraculously still had in her pocket. The new price was very much appreciated because of the money she had spent on voyages recently.
After signing an adoption form, Andrea was out of there with her new friend. It wasnât until she arrived back at the apartments, that she realized she didnât even know if pets were allowed. Well, she thought, might as well wait until she was told otherwise.
âThis is your new home...â she said to the dog she was now realizing she needed a name for. Almost immediately, it came to her. âUlf.â This name, meaning wolf, would symbolize a new life for the two. No longer would they be lone wolves.

This was both something new to Pam and something entirely different from what sheâs used to. Sheâs comforted people before, despite what her cold exterior might tell you. But sheâs never had to comfort someone sheâs barely known. She felt a bit of awkwardness creeping through the air. The other girl appeared to be comfortable just staying silent, but Pam felt a bit like she was going to explode if she didnât speak or say anything at all. It wasnât her natural state of being. She was more than a little relieved that the girl spoke up. She took a moment to listen in, her voice piercing through the apparent silence like the crack of a bullet. She caught enough of what she said to get the jist of it. âSometimes, yeah. Usually every other night.â Thinking for a moment, Pam seemed to remember something from a few nights ago. âCome to think of itâŚ. I think I remember seeing you there, too.âÂ
â˘Well, that didnât make for much of a conversation. Andrea didnât really have anything to add. The silence that she no longer found comforting returned. Maybe being alone would have been better after all. However, Andrea realized that the sadness that had overflowed had receded. Who knew such a simple and wordless interaction could help so much. She had almost forgot what had caused the pain in the first place. Almost.
Andrea strained her brain for something to say. Words usually came easily for the young woman. Then, however, she was struggling to come up with a single word. All she could come up with was a simple head nod.Â

sittinâ on the dock
The docks were as good a place as any to fish, Denny supposed. They gave a nice view of the horizon to gaze out at as he waited for a bite as well. Sure, it could get crowded from time to time, but around this time it was usually dead. Or so he thought.
Popper let out a small cheep alerting the young man to the womanâs presence in case Denny didnât already know. He did, and offered a small smile the womanâs way.
âHey. You mind if I sit here with you and fish?â
If she wanted to be alone, heâd understand and find somewhere else to go.
â˘Eyes glued to the bird on the manâs shoulder, she answered impassively. âKnock yourself out.â Andrea turned her attention back to the sea. A cruiser motorboat full of loud young adults drifted by. This inspired some jealousy in Andrea. She really didnât have anyone to be carefree with like that.
She thought about starting up conversation with the stranger, but wasnât really sure what to say. In her whole life, she had only had enough friends to count on one hand and most of them were from when she was a child. How pathetic...
nirvanasvintnerâ:
Fortunately, the pair wandered offâthough she made a note to herself to keep an eye on them for the rest of the night. It was a shame people like that had to exist, ruining othersâ times with being creeps. She hoped her patrons felt safe and comfortable under her watch, at least.
Once sheâd lost sight of the two, Eve turned her attention back to the poor girl and smiled sweetly at her. âIâm sure, darling,â she answered soothingly, though it was more than obvious she didnât actually believe it. There was no need to hurt her confidence.
The young woman cracked a ridiculous smile and greeting, and Eve couldnât help but giggle. âHello, love. Can I help you? Do you need an escort homeâŚ?â
â˘Andrea couldnât believe how beautiful the woman in front of her was. Her golden locks and eyes that were a color. And then there were her breasts. Ahh...breasts...With her mind being the farthest from clear, she stared at the womanâs chest as she spoke and nodded as if she were listening. She didnât hear exactly what the gorgeous woman said, but she did hear a giggle so it must have been good.
