im actually so grateful and thankful that Minnesota has no official religion and that 30% of the population is non religious and that the native population is growing and is very present… not having a state religion honors the “separation of church and state” + makes the people more open and kind and (slightly) less judgy and reduces ingroup tribalism to unify the state + having racial/religious diversity in your schools makes you smarter and more worldly + adapting to modern laws and science helps with the economy, instead of stagnating and upholding old traditions in beliefs and farming like the south

I really like that video about how the evangelical /southern Baptist style of Christianity is tied to corporations and the CIA… like I do think that Republicans since the 80s have been trying to consolidate all Christians into one homogenous “Charlie Kirk-Donald Trump-church-with-carpet-and-fluorescent-lights-and-a-preacher-who-plays-guitar McDonalds Happy Meal and cartoon angels Mormon-adjacent Christian Summer Camp Twitter-Bible-Quotes PRAISE JESUS flashy Prosperity Gospel Megachurch” Church… I guess that’s what “Christian Nationalism” is …. i’ve been feeling the push for the past 20 years for this creation of a Ronald Reagan Proselytize-To-Everyone Christianity and it sooooo repulses me

I got my parents to watch the first two episodes of Midnight Mass with me. My mom asked “is it sacrilegious?” I said “I don’t know we’ll see”. They’re intrigued, but Riley’s anti-catholic atheist monologue in episode 2 perturbed my mom, even though she does agree that the Catholic Church as an organization/business is greedy . I watched ahead to episode 4 by myself and I think I can get them to watch episode 3, but Father Paul Hill’s joyride escapade in episode 4 is going to be too much for them.
