The sight fo food served as a reminder to Vidia of her skipped meal. She had been trying to fly as far across the island as fast as she could and had lost track of the time.

Taking one from Prilla, Vidia scrutinized it with a neutral expression. She raised it to her mouth, taking a delicate bite.

Her eyes widened, just a bit, and darted back to Prilla. “What is this?”

The sight of Vidia enjoying her treat cheered Prilla. At least she thought Vidia’s small bite and subtle surprise was a sign that she was enjoying it. Otherwise, she would happily take it back...

“It’s called a churro. I blinked to a little girl in Spain who was having one for breakfast and had to try one! Do you like it?”

A sad sounding tune floated through the Lagoon, low haunting notes permeating the air.

Eena played her instrument, a look of grave concentration on her face. The mermaid was in a melancholy mood and after a few more bars, abruptly stopped the music, staring at the instrument sadly.

Instinct when hearing beautifully haunting music coming from the Mermaid’s Lagoon told Prilla to block her ears and fly fast and far away. She didn’t particularly (or at all) want to be turned into a bat -- but before she could flee, she realized the mournful sound was not that of singing, but of an instrument.

While just as beautiful, a mermaid’s playing didn’t hold the magic their singing did. It was safe. Prilla relaxed and allowed herself to listen, drifting toward the sound. The tune spoke to the part of her which had known suffering and tragedy and she didn’t wish such a feeling on anyone.

“Why are you sad?”

“Don’t they look so good? I got the recipe from the mainland and Dulcie baked them!” Prilla has saved one of the treats for Vidia, who hadn’t made an apperancence in the tearoom that day for breakfast.
