- CHAPTER I -

THE STARBIRD

Yavin Orbit

The former Nightbrother, now christened the Starbird exited Hyperspace into the orbit of Yavin. The system’s sun shining on the newly orange painted hull. In the cockpit, Ezra Bridger piloted the ship with his and his girlfriend Sabine Wren’s Lothcat, Murley in the copilot’s seat napping.

Ever since their return from the neighboring Galaxy, and bringing the Starbird out of storage, they made major modifications and retrofits to the former ship of Maul that he had for years to replace his old Sith Infiltrator ship especially when he lost it when he was stranded on Malachor. Apart from the cloaking device that was salvaged from one of the last TIE Phantoms, they added in a lounge and galley into the ship. The main quarters were modified replacing the two beds placing in a perfect sized bed for two, two chairs at the table, and a kitty bed which was perfect for Murley.

Sabine stirred in her sleep with a little smile on her face. Nice and peaceful dreams danced until a feeling of uneasiness came about her and then she was in a place unfamiliar to her. Brown stone statues of Jedi decorated the chamber with a dome like structure in the center pulsing and illuminated with orange light.

She walked towards the dome and heard whispers saying words, “No”, “Do not let them”, and “They will be Reborn” with dark orange cloaked figures kneeling before the structure and black clad armored Stormtroopers walking towards her with lightsabers igniting a crimson red. She then heard laughter from a voice unfamiliar voice coming from behind her. The person’s shadow enveloping hers.

The domed structure let out a huge pulse of bright blinding light and it hit her

“K Y L E!!!”

“J A N!”

When the light hit her she woke up.

Sabine woke up in her and Ezra’s bed in their quarters after what she had experienced. The lights were off as she sat up her eyes adjusting. She rubbed her head contemplating what had happened then she heard sensor beeps from the cockpit as she rose up from the bed readjusting her tank top and undershorts putting on a loose pair of shoes as she exited the room.

“This is Rogue 3 and Phantom 2. Please transmit clearance codes, Kom’rk Fighter,” Wes Janson chimmed on the comms. “This is the Starbird commanded by Specter 6 and 5. We’re here by request of master Skywalker to tutor the students and we love to see how much nicer one of our old stomping grounds has gotten after 12 years my girlfriend and I. Transmitting clearance codes now,” Ezra replied as he transmitted the codes from the console.

Sabine entered the cockpit and stood in the doorway watching her cyar’ika and Murley, who was snoozing, in the pilot seats smiling. She was still amazed that after everything and the hardships and challenges they finally have a happy peaceful life if they or anyone would call it normal after everything they’ve been through and what they’ve seen. They both knew Kanan, Ahsoka, their respective parents, even though they knew it would be tricky, her brother Tristan, and many others including Hera would be proud of them. Especially her mentor’s master and Luke and Leia’s father, Anakin Skywalker knowing that they along with his children would finally have the life they and he and their mother never had. One of many things the late Sith, Palpatine, and The Empire took away and destroyed. Even after everything he did as Darth Vader, he was much a victim of the Emperor’s atrocities as the rest of them.

“Copy. Welcome back to Yavin, Specter 6. You and Lady Wren are cleared to land at your usual landing spot for the Ghost at the Praxeum at Base One,” Janson said to Ezra, “Thank you, Wes,” Ezra said. Sabine rolled her eyes chuckling at the formal greeting just as Ezra closed communications.

“I’ll never get used to that,” Sabine said just as Ezra heard the sound of her voice as he turned around to see her beautiful smiling face leaning on the doorway. He chuckled resting his elbow on the console but away from any buttons and his hand on the side of his head. “How long have you been standing there?,” Ezra asked as Sabine walked towards him then sitting down in his lap wrapping her arms around his neck, “Long enough,” Sabine replied pecking his lips then reached her hand out to pet the sleeping Murley while Ezra held onto her thighs so she wouldn’t fall over. “How have you two been doing?,” Sabine asked. “Murls has really been a good copilot. But not as good as you. No offense to him or you. Well… what I mean to say is….,” Ezra sutters as Sabine laughed, “I know and none taken. How we doing?” “We’re about to land at our old landing spot. But how has been our sleeping beauty?,” Ezra asked his girlfriend as she sighed, “Oh, been okay. Half of it was a bit rocky,” Sabine replied. Ezra looked at her, “Are you okay? Do you feel good?” Sabine not knowing how to explain what she had seen, “Yeah… yeah. I’m okay.” “Sabine…,” Ezra said. “It’s complicated. We can talk about it later on. Let’s start the day well. Right, hubby?”

Ezra laughed “HAHAHAHAHAHA!! ‘Hubby?’ HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!,” Ezra laughed as Sabine giggled in unison. “I’m going to go get dressed. Start the landing cycle.” “Aye, aye, babe,” Ezra saluted as Sabine walked away laughing.

Sabine opened the closet drawer with some of her clothes and the chest that carried her armor, helmet, boots, and bodysuit as she got ready to change. She put on charcoal pants and a caf brown shirt with a v-neck then she decided while helping the tutoring she’d travel light as she put on her flak vest with her armor and finally her knee armor that was now painted a Clan Wren gold then her pouch belt and a single holstered belt that was given to her by both her family’s and Rebel Pilots Bodica Venj and Dirk Ullodin alongside fellow GCW veteran Koska Reeves then last but not least a pair of her civilian boots. Sabine stood up and checked herself in the mirror then she opened a drawer that had her mother’s hair clip then wrapped the back of her hair in a bun like her mother’s was 32 years ago whilst keeping the front of her hair the same bob cut and curtains style hair she has now then put the clip in ((her hair style in this is a combination of Quorra’s from TRON and her mother Ursa’s from TCW season 7)).

Sabine walked back into the cockpit putting on a brown jacket she gotten at Boonta Eve then leaned on Ezra’s chair watching as they entered Yavin’s atmosphere. They watched in awe as they saw the Great Temple, Base One, now the Jedi Praxeum sort of restored to a prestine condition.

“It’s been a long time,” Ezra said as he and Sabine looked at each other. “Now. Let’s get started.”

3:59 AM - 5 Hours before the Crossing

“Hey there.,” Mary Jane said as she surprised Peter in the lobby. Giving him the smirk he loved like the rest of her including her beautiful face and eyes dressed in a sand blue jacket, pink hoodie, and white shirt with light blue jeans and leather boots. Peter couldn’t help but chuckle. “I was afraid you’d start the spy stuff without me?,” Peter said. “Technically we’re not sneaking per say, Tiger, rather… investigating.,” Mary Jane said as they walked through the lobby of the building down the hallway to the East corner via an elevator.

As they exited the elevator, she gave her boyfriend a photograph “One of our leads in our second Podcast said he saw a guy looking Ike a lightning bug enter Alchemax. He was carrying containers with him when he entered. Archive boxes from Stark Industries.,” Mary Jane pulled out a key card that she “borrowed” from one of the “Cleaners”, one of the nicknames for Alchemax’s Guards as they neared the door to the labs. "When do you think these boxes were from?," Peter asked as Mary Jane inserted the card into the scanner. "Due to power diversion to Special Projects wing, all devices in Alchemax Tower will be either disabled, on auxiliary power, or slow. Please continue to wait while scanning is complete. We thank you for your patience.," the computer voice announced. "From the looks of it, it's back when Obadiah Stane was in charge. Back when he started laying off employees and scientists to fund his unauthorized escapades. Because look on the tag. Look who they belonged to.," MJ said then pointed to the tag on the boxes in the photo. Peter looked in shock and realization as the tag on Boxes had a familiar name. An all too familiar name. "Jonathan Ohnn? The Spot? That means...," Peter said as the door opened, "I think, whoever they are, are continuing Dr. Ohnn's work.," Mary Jane replied as they entered the labs. Peter shook his head. "Wait. Making more colliders like the one he made, another Fusion Reactor like the one he and Otto made?," Peter whispered as they used they used the commotion from the work areas to their advantage, "Trying to replicate the suit he has, possibly another Time Dilation Accelerator (we know how that nearly went for us), I don't know. Whatever it is, it's big with all the tech heists, the shipments, energy consumption, and recently with Beetle. So we're going to find out tonight.," Mary Jane said.

She then watched with Peter the scientists working on many projects. Robotics, Environmental, and Biology while on their way to Special Projects. Peter chuckled, “Seeing this… almost reminds me of the old days. Liz really has turned some of this around.,” Mary Jane laughed with him, “She’s doing her best. Just like Harry. Trying to clean up the mess his father and the old regimes of both companies made.”

“We really need to thank them for once this is over. Get a reservation at Mick’s, probably hang out like old times. I think we’ve earned it. Especially to celebrate their collaboration with their respective companies.,” Peter suggested. Harry had been through a lot. Being the Goblin II, to being cured of his disease, and finally getting his life back in order with Liz and Bernard helping including themselves helping along the way leading him to become the New Goblin again.

They head right through the hallway to where Liz told them to go until they reached the door labeled “Special Projects - Authorized Personnel Only.” “As if ‘Danger: Do Not Enter’ wasn’t enough.,” Peter thought. Mary Jane took out the key card and plugged it into the scanner. “Security Scan Complete. Captain Jessop Witwer. Confirmed.,” the Computer Voice said opening the door. “Okay. Better get into my work clothes.,” Peter said opening up his shirt and pants to reveal his spider suit mask and all.

He calibrated his new web shooters. Similar in design to the ones he made to work alongside his organic webbing and helped direct it better taking quips from the activation triggers on Ant-Man and Wasp’s suits and have the middle finger button swap through cartridges from Taser webs, to Flame webs, Freon webs, etc.

“Meet you at the lab.,” Mary Jane said as they split up to cover more ground.

Peter swung through the west corner then felt a surge in his spider sense. He got to cover to avoid detection then to his shock he saw Curt Connors and Clayton Cole in cuffs escorted somewhere by Scorpion, Swarm, and a few Alchemax Cleaners. Spidey decides to follow them but decides keeps a low profile. He followed the cadre to a cargo elevator. He planned on hitching a ride then all of a sudden he heard footsteps near him.

“Well… what are you doing around these parts… Parker?,” said the now visible voice of Eddie Brock. He knew he couldn’t sense due to his and Venom’s invisibility power. “I was gonna ask you the same thing, Eddie.,” Peter replied with caution. “Easy there.,” Brock said as he raised his hand to calm Peter down, “We’re here for the same thing you are, bro.” Peter raised his eyebrow and his spider lens raised with it. “Let me guess another archive heist?,” Spider-Man asked his former childhood friend and part-time work partner turned vigilante and freelance reporter and investigator. “Now you’re catching on.,”Brock answered as he revealed himself as a disguised Cleaner from the shadows via the symbiote's abilities.

One of the Cleaners was on break leaving his gauntlets off. He sat down with a cup of coffee at a computer station while unbeknownst to him, MJ snuck up behind him tasing him with her own personal sidearm given to her by Black Widow that she modified over the years alongside Peter as the guard fell flat on the floor spilling his drink.

Mary Jane went towards the computer terminal plugging in a pwn box given to her by Harry hacking into the mainframe without triggering anything. She went through the files searching it for anything related to Dr. Ohnn until suddenly she saw a file called Project: Tempus she opened the file.
