what's crazy is that both the shy away and the contract music videos are both instances of things that are happening 100% in clancys head under the influence of circumstances imposed on them by the bishops and which immediately proceed some absolute fuckshit happening. the shy away mv was clancy's half-smeared starved tortured brain attempting to orient itself in the city in the weeks preceding the show, an event where, depending on your interpretation of canon, something went wrong (sirensssss) and clancy was still stuck for quite a while before the actual breakout. the contract was clancy being actively fucked with by nico digging around in their brain, creating this hallucination of the torchbearer to guilt clance and weaken them, this army of dark thoughts, again just before they are supposed to fight. all i can imagine is clancy standing there, getting caught up in their own head, and this wave of nauseous deja vu washes over them as the last time they felt like this comes back. knowing that once again, they're trapped. and once again, they will fail.
