Today we arrived in Bonito, meaning beautiful, after an overnight bus journey of about 13 hours. We're starting at Pousada Muito which has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Despite no sleep we went to a natural water park today and had a bbq with another group. We swam with some large fishes and are going to get an early night tonight!

In Paraty we took a jeep tour. We visited the rain forest and 2 waterfalls. We also saw 2 cachasa distilleries. We shared the tour with a lovely french couple and the tour guide was really friendly.
Paraty was a beautiful. We took a party boat trip to nearby beaches and drank Caipis. It was great fun.

We're going to be here tomorrow. Hope it is as amazing as this photo suggests¡
Illhe Grande. Its raining a lot. Non stop for hours, so unfortunately our boat trip was cancelled. We are resting up. Last night we had the local caipirinhas. We're all light weights in our tour group and we laughed so much it hurt! There was a very cute dog who loved Dan and sat with us for hours last night! Its very relaxing here and the bed its good in the Posada, so sure I'll catch up on some z's here!

Last Day in Rio
We’ve just checked into our hotel where our tour begins. Its a step up from our basic appartment and apparently there is a pool on the roof and you can see Christ the Redeemer from it. Yesterday was a crazy day we packed loads in visiting Christ the Redeemer in the morning, spending the day on Ipanema beach, drinking coconut water and admiring the beautiful sea and people.
Apparently the sea here is supposed to be called ‘bad waters’. The waves were huge and crashed into you, which was fun, if a little scary.
I’m the evening we took the cable car up sugarloaf mountain and looked at the amazing views.
I think we’re walking more than double what we would do back home and our feet are feeling it!
Off to Illhe Grande tomorrow with our tour group who we meet tonight!

Day 1 The Adventure Begins
So yesterday I began the adventure. I was very lucky to be staying in a hotel at Terminal 5 and slept very well thanks to my parents who had kindly booked me in. It made a huge difference to start the trip in such luxury. The flight was 12 hours, but the plane was really empty so I had loads of space. I managed to catch up on some good films like 'The Book Thief and the Fifth State'. Finally I arrived at the flat around 10pm and was reunited with the lovely Daniel Mayo!
These are some of the amazing places we’ll see! Rio, Iguazu falls, sacred valley and Machu Picchu in Peru!
Trip Preparation
So its just over a week to go until I head out to South America on a big adventure. This is a trip I planned to make about 6 years ago, but due to various life circumstances, I never got round to until now, and you know what…. I’m glad, because now I’m going with my husband to be! OK….technically he has already gone, so I’m joining him out there!
It’s a honeymoon before the wedding just to be different.
There are so many things to think of before a trip like this… vaccinations, the right gear to bring, the best time of year to go, how not to get ravaged by mosquitoes, how you’ll wash your stuff, keep in touch etc.
Planning this as well as a wedding has been hmmmm let’s just say interesting!
If I’m honest, I’m as bit terrified of the adventure. I haven’t been travelling for 6 weeks before, especially not so far afield, so I’ve been putting together a pinterest board of all the places we’re going to see to get excited!
I’ll try to post some of my favourites as well.
