Bored of You

I found this in the dollar bin at Galaxy Comics here in Brooklyn. I read the whole series in trades, so whenever I see a random issue in a bin, I grab it.

I don’t know if I’d describe Scalped as my favorite series, but it may be the best I’ve ever read just because it maintains such a high level of quality in art and writing for its entire run. There’s not a single dull page or false move in sixty issues.

Here’s a good example:

Wang Saen Suk

Also known as The Buddhist Hell Gardens of Thailand. This garden consists of statues that depict what hell is supposed to be like. According to the ”Traibhumi Phra Ruang,” upon death a buddhist will encounter four celestial beings who weigh your good deeds and bad deeds. If your bad ones outweigh your good ones you go to this hell.

Z2 Comics and I have teamed up to organize a Fanart Contest with Giveaways for Paul Pope’s new colored edition of ESCAPO!

Poster Contest Guidelines:

Design an event poster for Escapo’s act. You can locate this event where you live if you’d like.

The theme of death is featured heavily in both the book and Escapo’s act. Make your design about Escapo v. Death.

You can work in whichever media you’d like. If you want to use illustration, photography, etc., that’s okay.

The first deadline is March 20th. As before, extensions can be given.

There will be four winners and one Grand Prize winner. Judging will take place in early April. I will be judging the submissions along with Z2 Comics’ Josh Frankel and Paul Pope, himself.
