One of the biggest issues the Mets have is a lot of their free agent signings are signed to short term deals with the idea they could flip them at the deadline if the season went as badly as it has, but most of the signings have all been so bad to borderline unplayable or have barely played because of injury that they no longer have trade value
Okay I love all my bad baseball players so these arenβt meant to be disrespectful Iβm just looking at the reality here
Bo - has been so bad it makes it unlikely that he opts out of his contract this offseason, making him unreadable.
Williams - still inconsistent, if he was a ufa after this year someone would still take him and say I can fix him but he has two years left so less likely to move
Weaver - actually had trade value, has term so the Mets may be more hesitant to trade him but that term is only for one more season and if we have a season or how long it be if we do
Polanco - barely played this year, has a year left with money, so not moving
Peralta - will still have value because of the lack of starting pitching available at the deadline but has severely tanked his value
Senga - hits the IL every month, not moving despite being a upcoming ufa pitcher unless someoneβs extremely desperate, he just has not put up enough innings
Aj minter - actually tradable piece with an expiring contract m
Manaea - up and down season, still some value bc of his recent upward trajectory and lack of pitching in the mlb and more buyers than sellers but owed a lot next year, also if move him Iβll cry so they should let me have this one
Raley - after weaver, probably the most attractive piece we have, teams need left hand bullpen pitching and heβs on an expiring contract and old enough he wonβt be back
Luis Robert - hamstring so fucked up running will literally kill him and we havenβt seen him in months
Vientos - also basically no trade value anymore, injured, Stearns should consider I donβt want to lose my emotional support cat boy and I donβt think teams would
Baty - same as above but has some more value bc of utility ability, that said even if heβs not a starter caliber player youβre unlikely to get much in return back that would be worth giving up cheap depth defense
Holmes - signed to just next year so lockout uncertainty, good before his leg exploded so may get flipped if he can look good to end the month.
Brazoban - maybe the most interesting player. He has several years of team control and is an effective bullpen pitcher, both things that are very valuable, buuuuut heβs also 36, so age will be a concern. Mets may not feel whatever theyβd get back would be worth losing him with several years of team control and how much they invested in him, but heβs also a 36 year old relief pitcher and retaining has so much risk in terms of how repeatable the performance is. Theyβll consider it for the right offer for sure but if they end up holding on to him they wonβt be mad about it either
The βsomeone might take him but donβt expect much of note backβ tier: Tyrone Taylor (upcoming ufa, so may just flip him so they donβt lose him for nothing),
for anyone who isn't aware, wnba players have been speaking out recently about the abuse they've been receiving online from sports betters who bet on them and weren't happy with the outcomes of the games. notably, chelsea gray blasted a guy who called her a racial slur because she didn't score as many points as he bet she would, and courtney williams posted a voice note of her response to a guy who said some absolutely vile stuff to her
i know most of the wnba fans on here are more casual watchers, but it's still something i think everyone who pays attention to the league should be aware of because it's astounding how many comments i've seen saying that the players should just suck it up because that comes with the territory and all athletes have to deal with it. while it's true that this problem is by no means unique to the wnba, that doesn't mean it's okay or that players should have to tolerate harassment and bigotry (i swear every single one of these comments is overtly racist, misogynistic, and/or homophobic)
if the league is going to openly endorse sports betting, partner with betting platforms, and actively promote betting during every single commercial break, then it NEEDS to also take measures to protect its players from the vitriol that betting inspires. personally i think it's incredibly fucked up that sports leagues are endorsing betting at all, but that's a conversation for another day. natasha cloud said it well when she was interviewed about it: if the wnba wants to endorse betting for the sake of financial growth, fine, but that cannot come at the expense of the players, and cathy needs to step up and protect them (in this way and so many more). elizabeth williams (secretary of the playersβ association) said that thereβs a meeting scheduled to discuss the issue with cathy soon, but i honestly donβt know how much we can expect to come from it
Sid the kid (yeah he will always be Sid the Kid forever)
sick to death of people giving up on their fav athletes bc they have bad bouts of performance . i will stay delusional until the very end. they will win it all. they are the goat. best to ever do it. in the game forever. never ever doubting them. hashtag my losing dog 4ever

Yet another new study debunked the basis for the anti-trans sports bans. It was never about sports but for creating legal avenues for exclusion and abjection. This is one of the largest analyses ever conducted, involving 52 studies and 6,485 trans people. Read the study here.
