The fact that most of the notes under these reposts think it's talking about Rocky Horror, a musical that explicitly states that Frank-N-Furter is a "transvestite", when the tweet explicitly says "each films go to great lengths to say [they] are absolutely not transvestites" shows that we are not even having this conversation at all when you misinterpret what films are being discussed this badly.

The popularity of Pyscho and The Silence of the Lambs and their status as classics have pretty much superseded any sort of discussion about their transmisogyny in most horror spaces. I am very confident in this assertion because Dead Meat, the most popular and mainstream way and gateway into horror in the internet space, just fucking ignored the massive transmisogyny inherent to both of those movies when they covered them on the Kill Count. James does discuss the protests done against The Silence of the Lambs, but never specified trans women being affected by the character he literally describes as a "mentally ill crossdresser". He makes a few remarks to "trans people" and primarily focuses on how it affects gay men, but never trans women. And James completely glosses over the same thing in the Psycho kill count.

I said this already, but I am NOT looking forward to when they decide to cover Rocky Horror. I know very well that they will ignore the multiple interviews where it's creator explicitly says trans women will never be real women and that they're sympathetic for J.K. Rowling after being rightfully dogged on for being a transmisogynistic monster. I knooooow.

No, people have not, in fact "talked about" the transmisogyny inherent to horror properties such as Danganronpa, Pyscho, The Silence of the Lambs, Rocky Horror, Weapons, Long Legs, Milk and Serial, Sleepaway Camp, Resident Evil, and so, so many more horror properties. They have not even begun to discuss the transmisogyny in so many of their favorite horror franchises, let alone disavowing them. Why would they or any of their creators stop being transmisogynistic when this behavior is rewarded with Oscar wins, boatloads of cash, and greater opportunities for their careers?
