          i   had   to   deal   with   my   fair   share   of   gossip   girl   wannabees,       the   ones   who   thought   it   was      still   cool   to   be   a   bitch    or    pretend   to   be   one.          should   i   have   treated   her   as   such?         i   did,      sometimes .            i   didn’t   actively   go   out   of   my   way   to   talk   to   her   in   the   halls.            i   avoided   her       “    wrath     “       at   all   costs      &       i   steered   clear   of   any   of   her   cronies.        archie   was   my   only   saving   grace   among   the   popular   kind      &      i   was   grateful.    

 your  hand ,   still  just  placed  on   the  glass  door ,    and   once   already   snapped   out   of   your   own   thoughts  ,      your   eyes   land   on   him .     FEW   COPIES   of   your   favorite   comics   in   hand ,    (    it   was   the   only   time   you   got   to   actually   buy ‘em   after   weeks   of   saving   up   )  ,      already   walking   out   so   that   the   other   had    SPACE    to   get   through ,     though   you   stop   just   in   front   of   him .            ❝    –––––– -     book  stores  ?  ,    yeah ,    this   one   right’ere   is   actually   pretty   decent .      [    comics   in   hand   waving   ]     obviously   ha-,       but   barnes   and   noble’s   pretty   great   too .    but   i’d   rather   small   book   stores   like   this ,     more   of   the  OLD   SCHOOL   stuff    y’know??      ❞

       my   attempt   at   small   talk   was   usually   erratic      &      abrupt .           i   could   never   fully   gauge   if   someone   truly   wanted   to   talk   with   me   or   they   were   just   politely   answering   my   question.          it   was   50 / 50   with   this   kid.          he   didn’t   necessarily   run   out   of   the   doorway      &      ignore   me ,       in   fact   ,        we   were   both   sorta   awkwardly    holding   the   main   door   for   each   other   while   others   filtered   through   the   other   unblocked   doorway,   shooting   us   confused      &      frustrated   looks .           like   those   of   when   someone   drives   by       and       stops   in   the   middle   of   the   street   to   talk   to   a   neighbor   they   saw   on   the   sidewalk   with   their   kids     or       their   dogs      or      anything   else   that   would   make   someone   stop   in   the   middle   of   the   fucking   street.          i   glanced   quickly   at   the   booklets      (     no,    comics???       OH,    THAT   WAS   RAD!!!         gotta   check   that   out   later      )      he   flashed   towards   me   as   evidence.
