I scrolled for a long time to check if you had already done these movies and didn't see them so I thought I would just share two of the movies I had the most difficulty watching. The Dark Knight was pretty uncomfortable because the joker smacks his lips a lot and in the scene where he is eating shrimp it gets worse. I didn't finish the film. Also Inglorious Bastards is a great film but also several uncomfortable sounds (gory and eating related)

I will be happy to make posts for these! Thank you for bringing them to my attention!

Scandal (1950)

Hiruta is a walking misophonia trigger. He sniffs loudly frequently and smacks his lips when he talks. He cries often, coughs loudly in one scene, and when he passes out next to his daughter he snores a little.

Soon after meeting Hiruta for the first time, Aoe's regular model laughs loudly.

Aoe’s motorcycle horn blares loudly when Hiruta accidentally touches it. Hori blows out a match sharply.

Hiruta’s wife and daughter cry for a few minutes. Aoe revs his motorcycle for a minute or so. Wind howling. A traffic cop blows a whistle.

Samurai Assassin

Audible eating sounds. Bird calls. Tsuruchiyo (Toshiro Mifune) laughs drunkenly in one scene. The film whirs in parts. Like Kikuchiyo from Seven Samurai and Gonzo from Red Lion, also played by Mifune, Tsuruchiyo snores loudly. He also smacks his lips when he talks in between eating and drinking. Loud clashing of swords.

There is also Noh-style singing.

Would you rate The Ring? When i watched it, a couple scenes with choking sounds made me mildly uncomfortable, but there are definitely triggers I didn't notice in there. Everyone should have the chance to see The Ring without having to worry about triggers.

I will try to watch it over my spring break (this coming week!) and rate it then. Do others have thoughts on The Ring?

Jackson mumbles and makes unintelligible sounds when he is drunk.

Laughter, crying, and heavy breathing throughout (but not too bad).

I watched Into the Spiderverse today! I loved it but there were some Awful sounds. I didn't track them all but the main two I remember were horrible eating sounds (the scene right after Miles convinces Peter B. Parker to help him) and some clicking sounds (computer clicking when they break into the lab and pen clicking when Doct Oct is talking with Kingpin I think)

Yuck! I have heard such great things about the movie but maybe this would be better to skip.

None of the sounds were particularly emphasized or elongated. Below I will describe each of the segments in more detail.

“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”- Singing, whistling, and grunting/fighting noises.

“Near Algodones”- Grunting, choking, breathing, crying, wailing/shouting of Native Americans.

“Meal Ticket”- Visible mouth movement when chewing (no accompanying sounds).

“All Gold Canyon”- The prospector grunts and moans often, some singing.

“The Gal Who Got Rattled”- Dog yipping, coughing and gagging briefly, eating is visible but not heard, wailing/shouting of Native Americans.

Throughout ALL- gunshots, horses neighing, nature sounds like birds and leaves.
