I feel like Malorie's kids being revealed to be immune to the suicide demons was a very unsatisfying route to go. Part of the tragedy of Bird Box and most of Malorie was that while Malorie does become abusive, act colder over time, and take actions that ruin not just her potential relationships with other survivors but also her relationship with her own kids, the world she is in has sort of necessitated her becoming his bad because if she gets too soft her kids could be caught without a blindfold and be overtaken by The Murder Spirit and try to off themselves and/or others.
With the reveal that her kids are immune, this changes the tragedy from feeling like "It would've been very hard for this to turn out much better than it did " to "Actually, you could've just chilled out a smidge more and everything would've been fine. You just didn't know that was an option." I will not deny the second one is still tragic, it's just the less interesting angle for me.
It's entirely possible that in the next couple of pages the story will reveal actually Olympia is wrong and the Angels of Death type beings just interact with her and Tom differently and can still drive them insane, but assuming she's right and they just don't affect her at all, it's a let down
