Wassily Kandinsky - Dance Curves, 1926
Two pages from my new sketchbook - the second is a fisher-woman unknowingly hunting a deep sea creature, who she befriends, after she wounds it. They cannot communicate verbally. They spend a lot of time together on the water. The creature outlives her for two hundred years, similarly interacting with her descendants. It does not try to swim with them when they cross the ocean and go to a different continent. It does not know when those offspring come back to visit, because it doesn’t understand the smell of their blood now.
The Mexican capital holds a parade and vigil in memory of the migrants who lost their lives in transit across Mexico en route to the US
It is the third time a parade like this has been held in the city. The first Day of the Dead parade in Mexico City took place in 2016. It was inspired by the opening sequence of the James Bond film Spectre, which features a similar event in the city.
This year’s event is in memory of Mexican refugees who died as they attempted to travel to the US.
