Do not shame me for this vessel that has carried sick loved ones with strength and gentleness all at once.

Do not shame me for this vessel that has been starved and deprived of food and yet still stands strong every day.

Do not shame me for this vessel that has held loved ones up in the most heart wrenching of times.

Do not shame me for this vessel that has held family, friends, lovers, children and pets in its arms and made them feel safe and loved.

Do not shame me for this vessel that has helped wipe away rivers of tears.

Do not shame me for this vessel that has comforted many in their time of need.

Do not shame me for this vessel that has never given up even in its most darkest times.

Do not shame me for this vessel that continues to keep going and refuses to let a negative word or action tear it down.

Do not shame me for this vessel that continues to rise up no matter how many times it has fallen.

Do not shame me for this vessel that shows the years of abuse it has gone through and yet still stands strong and proud.

Do not shame me for this vessel that I can always count on to work, to help, to love, to comfort; but most of all, to live.

Do not shame me for my vessel of Love and Life.

It’s been a process for me to honor and love parts of my fat body that are traditionally not sexualised by mainstream media, sometimes it’s hard to accept or process that I will never be the “right” kind of fat. I’ll always have chubby arms, and a double chin and my stomach will never be flat, and sometimes it’s hard to come to terms with that, it’s hard to see those parts as beautiful. I love my body, I love all of my rolls and bumps and fat. My body is beautiful and powerful, it sustains me. In 2017 I want to see more radical fat activism, more images of fat women living life and loving themselves, and more value for fat bodies. Value every part of your fat body. Cherish yourself.
