the next day after exerting myself too much because i felt good for once
> find an old jump rope
> wonder if I'm still any good at it
> it's going pretty well
> fly too close to the sun and my insulin pump unclips from my waistband, site tears out of my body, pump goes flying
> đ§đŻđ§đŻđ§đŻđ§đŻđ§đŻđ§đŻ
also want to add I was hoping that jumping rope would help bring down a high blood sugar and instead it... removed my source of insulin đđ¤Śââď¸

I think if providers laugh at us while weâre explaining our concerns we should be able to turn them into piĂąatas for precisely 40.3 seconds
Letâs learn the meaning of that funny word that everyone else uses before adding it to our daily vocabulary <3
diabetic good luck charm!!
eating sugar is not a primary cause of diabetes. eating junk food is not a primary cause of diabetes. when you make jokes about "getting diabetes" over sugary, junk filled food, you are enforcing stereotypes that end with diabetics developing deadly eating disorders or experiencing medical abuse and neglect. Yes, it is that deep. Stop making diabetes jokes, you look like an uneducated bigot
Health insurance is infuriating for so many reasons but one thing I really hate is how they can change what medications they'll cover (and therefore allow you to take) at any moment, completely independent of what you or your doctor wants. And not only does this cause disruptions to care, sometimes being forced onto an inferior product or one that straight up doesn't work, there's also no guarantee that it won't change again in a few months. I used the same brand of test strips for about 16 years and then my insurance abruptly switched to another. I then used that one for a few years, until about 4 months ago when my (new) insurance switched me back to the brand I'd grown up on. Okay, fine, I guess, at least I still have the meters that go with that brand. But now they're switching it AGAIN and they'll only cover a brand of test strips that I've never used in my life, meaning I also have to go buy a new meter. And how long is that going to last before they change their minds again?? You don't think it's hard enough to be diabetic already without being yanked around like this?

So in a person without adrenal problems, the physiological stress response triggers a flood of cortisol. In someone with adrenal insufficiency, what takes its place? I mean I know weâre supposed to manually substitute cortisol when stressed by updosing, but physiologically whatâs happening to us without that system activating properly? Does adrenaline spike instead? We know the effects of chronically activated stress response is very hard on the body and sets you up for various medical problems; what happens to someone with adrenal insufficiency whoâs chronically stressed? Canât be good but it wouldnât be driven by excess cortisol production
Just because someone else who has the same illness as you can work full time or do more than you can, doesnât mean you can or should do more. Even people with the same chronic illness have different symptoms and severity levels. Try not to view other chronically ill peopleâs lifestyles as âproofâ that you should be doing more. Donât feel guilty for doing whatâs right for your body.Â
man sometimes I think back to the early days of covid when so many people at least made a show of caring about each otherâs health and taking basic precautions. and I did think wow if one good thing comes of this maybe itâll be greater awareness of disease transmission and public health issues. as a rly wild fantasy maybe even somewhat better disability awareness / inclusion / accessibility. and instead it seems like between the rampant misinformation conspiracy theories and official policies of âback to normalâ giving carte blanche to apathy weâve ended up worse than we started off. not just with public health infrastructure shredded (which it is) and its credibility in the gutter (which it is) but also with ppl acting like no one ever taught them to cover their fucking cough or even try to avoid sharing their every infection. sure, ppl have always been going places while sick but it used to be considered kind of, idk, gauche? rude? risky? this epi joke has been around for ages - âhow far can a sneeze travel? thousands of miles if itâs on a plane!â - but itâs incredibly galling to go through a global crisis in which we DID learn and practice, if briefly, if grudgingly, some of the ways that we could be less sick, and then to have seemingly most ppl decide actually that was annoying and inconvenient and they donât rly care anyway. and donât start with âaw well some ppl Have to go out when theyâre sickââ you and I both know Iâm not talking abt low wage workers with absolutely no other option. the callousness toward illness and the fatalism in not even trying to avoid it actually makes me want to throttle ppl. and then Iâm like well of course it went this way. how could it be different. what was I thinking
the lion does not concern himself with âurgent low blood sugarâ
Insulin pens will be available at a recommended price of $11 per pen, or a maximum of $55 for a five-pack.

Gov. Gavin Newsom said Thursday that California will begin selling affordable insulin under its own label on Jan. 1, nearly three years after he first announced a partnership to sell state-branded generic drugs at lower prices.
But California wonât be the only state making lower-cost insulin available. The nonprofit Civica said it will also distribute its economical diabetes medication to pharmacies nationwide. California began partnering with Civica in 2023 for its âCalRxâ brand of insulin and put $50 million toward its development, the company said.
