anyway as I'm finishing up the only one who can keep up (sonadow multichap fic), I'm thinking about new ones to start and I'm stuck between 3 options

so if u gaf at all let me explain the plot to them and maybe this will reach ppl and maybe ppl could help decide
1: modern au where toph, zuko, and sokka are in a band and katara is their social media manager. her and aang meet at a bar and they just form modern au gaang. it's simple but it's cute and idk I thought of it and liked it. ships would be kataang and zukka
2: 10 yrs since 100 yr war ended and ozai is actually wanting to start a new life as a decent person. atla is all abt redeeming ppl and so...yeah. ozai escapes prison somehow and voyages to the southern water tribe bc ain't nobody looking for him there. he meets hakoda and introduces himself with a new identity. I saw on TikTok someone saying that them as a ship would be insane and it was kinda my inspiration for this whole story. but it wouldn't be just that I think we deserve azula redemption (and tyzula). I at least need azula and zuko to be real siblings again lmao
3: I'm not the biggest zutara person BUT I was thinking abt what katara would do if aang did die after azula struck him with the lightning. like I just wanna see katara as a villain and vowing to kill every world leader and anyone who ever came in the way of gaang. and then eventually zuko joins her cause bc he realizes that he wouldn't have regained his honor even if he had captured aang himself.
i just need to get my thoughts out regarding this whole tadc ep 9 situation because I'm just disappointed. I was hesitant to watch the pilot for tadc when it first came out and avoided the show in general until earlier this year
the 1st 4 episodes are honestly pretty good. it was promising for an indie show and I was excited to see where it went. the idea of it all was super neat to me and I foresaw an intriguing ending that left the audience with answers, but left enough room to leave people wondering about the digital world
but episodes 5, 6, 7, and 8 just continually proved that goose is incapable of writing a show solo and that the ending wasn't going to be anything to write home about.
ep 5 was the first nail in the coffin when ragatha's development was shoved aside so a light could shine upon Jax... the least interesting character. he's just another "misunderstood" abuser that gets glazed bc he's a man.
ep 6 was more Jax show. literally nothing about that episode was appealing and it was so hard to watch Jax have his stupid meltdown. as for ep 7, it was a waste. nothing happened or changed and we learned nothing new.
ep 8 was so so so promising. I thought it was good and made up for the shortcomings in the past couple episodes. I thought MAYBE the last episode would show the development we've been waiting for. it was an hour long after all, how could goose not choose to do that?

SPOILERS FOR TADC: THE LAST ACT
I wasn't planning on watching the leaks but as I heard more people talk about how shitty ep 9 was... as well as seeing spoilers and having a hard time avoiding it. I just watched it
all I have to say is I'm extremely disappointed but in no way surprised. for those who haven't watched but don't care about spoilers, I'll summarize:
• Jax being himself
• out of nowhere he just...abstracts
• pomni goes after him and gets sucked into his mind
• shows alternate realities where different characters (ragatha, zooble, gangle) abstracted and how Jax would've reacted to those
• Jax and ribbit backstory. him, ribbit, and Kaufmo were close and stuff but Jax and ribbit got to talking and he told her about his human life. then he has a goofy ahh panic attack and pushes her away / stops being friends with her
• in the snowy adventure they fight and ribbit abstracts
• Jax implodes and they shove him in a makeshift tent
• fucking ridiculous montage of Jax to "isn't she lovely"
• Caine comes back after realizing he's a pos and tells them the truth. they're digital copies of their human selves and basically what everyone already theorized
• we find out their real names and appearances
• queue "can't stop the feeling" and disregard the bittersweet ending we were promised. everyone totally forgets that they want to go back to their life and are somehow happy with being stuck in the circus
so yeah the entire thing was about Jax and no this show doesn't pass the bechdel test. I can't believe that this show was wasted on one character. we end this series knowing nothing about anyone but Jax... or even how the circus worked. I dont even think filler episodes would've helped this show
goose should never work on a show as a writer again. or really anything because she's a terrible person along with Micheal and Ashley. glitch dropped the ball yet again and I'm just annoyed. I had a lot of hope for this.
of course it wasn't the worst thing ever, but god it wasn't good by any means. I would've rather had a dream ending than this shit.
probably a bad time to mention I lowk deleted my tadc fic bc I'm an idiot for starting smth in the MIDDLE of the show and it was also just generally bad
didn't orphan bc it was 2 chapters. so...
but anyways. after ep 9 is all said and done I will definitely write smth for tadc bc I adore it

fandom etiquette as a whole died when people who didn’t grow up on fandoms became stans during lockdown, yes, but why am i seeing people openly mocking fics on twitter. why am i seeing screenshots of fics with captions like “bro what is this 😭.” why am i seeing people mock fic writers for not knowing how sports or theater or college or any other organization operates in the real world.
“college is absolutely nothing like this” “why are we writing four people on the team scoring a hat trick in one game” “so tech work is nothing like this, hope that helps!”
if you don’t like a fic, and if you can’t suspend your belief enough to enjoy a fic that exaggerates or ignores real-world orgs, you don’t have to read it. you don’t have to screenshot it and put it on blast for twitter. you don’t have to post a link to it in the replies. the back button is literally there on your phone. it’s not giving baby’s first fandom anymore, it’s giving entitled asshole and it isn’t as cute as you think it is.
I need tiktokers to understand that ao3 has been home for the freaks (affectionate) ever since the day it was created. the entire site was created because “dark and fucked up fics” were banned and removed from other platforms, so us freaks came together and created a site for other freaks — a site where nothing is censored, a site with no algorithm, no capitalism, no ads, and again, absolutely no censorship.
this has been our house for decades. you newbies don’t come into our house and tell us how to arrange our furniture. either be nice and respect our house, or leave and build your own house elsewhere.

people saying “don’t use your full government name for your ao3”, “create different emails for work and personal use” but personally I think it’s both sad and dystopian how capitalism/companies/even schools think they have the rights to cross your personal boundaries and insert themselves into your personal life. like, I get it, safety wise, why checking digital footprints can be important sometimes. but a gay fanfiction is not a fucking threat that could ever cause anybody harm. it’s funny (not really, it’s still sad and dystopian) how they now think they can control your personal life and prevent you from having hobbies
idk how fanfiction writers can be considered unprofessional in general... the only way i can see it as problematic is if someone consistently writes abt pedophilia, rape, etc.

ive mentioned in my intro post that i would/will write south park fics, if commissioned or on my own, and i just want to say that
smut is excluded from the south park fandom unless it's between characters that are 18+ IN THE SHOW! so yeah i thought it was worth mentioning

AO3 should have an Annotation Mode where you can click to view all of the author's commentary and thoughts about certain parts of the work. A little comment that says "I spent five hours researching vintage radio mechanics for this and didn't even end up using it" or "this is an ancient Hebrew literary technique!" would make my day
