I stopped using tumblr a long time ago and i’m pretty sure anyone who I used to know also stopped but today I remembered my reason for becoming a nurse

Whenever anyone asks, I always tell them that I just really like helping people. But someone important to me today asked about my grandma and I remembered again. I never got to say goodbye to her. Just after my first job, I told her that I’d be treating her out for the first time. She fell into a coma and when she woke up the one time, she forgot who I was and forgot the dialect I speak so I couldn’t even communicate with her. I felt so fucking useless. A similar thing happened with my grandpa where all I could do was stand by their bed and watch them pass away.

I realize that even if I became a nurse or went beyond that and became a doctor I still wouldn’t be able to do anything. There’s really nothing more you can do for a patient in a coma or someone who’s going through late stage cancer. It’s not about making a difference in my life anymore but I really want to be someone who can make a difference in someone else’s life and give them better hope.

It’s kinda late now, but I’m starting nursing school and I hope I can finish it and start making a difference.
