one thing that's been interesting in regards to working on my new project is, I call Hikaru the villain—but, I wonder how people might react to him because he's right about everything

(slight spoilers, maybe?) the thing he gets paranoid about is true, he's being aggressively gaslighted. today I just thought up a scene where he's being a massive dickhead...but what he says is true. I would say his perception of everything going on is wrong—he tends to approach everything in bad faith—but his assessment of what's actually happening is mostly, if not always correct.

he's insufferable, but honestly I find myself feeling at least a little bad for him because, while I like to think I wouldn't be that bad, I do think being in his shoes would make me funny in the head too 💀

on one hand, it kind of sucks knowing maybe 2-3 people will read this thing, tops...but it has been good in helping me get over the crippling fear of hkrsztt being unlikable. now I think you could honestly make equally convincing arguments about both of them being the "villain"...

like the whole conflict of the story is Suzette's fault, because she won't just have a got damn conversation with Hikaru (her husband [estranged but they're trying to fix things...]) and immediately goes straight to gaslight-gatekeep-girlbossing him...but also, I don't entirely fault her because I don't know what I would do in her shoes either. it likely wouldn't be a nice, rational conversation. and Hikaru's just sooooo annoying and awful, but he's also constantly going, "does anyone see this shit??" and everyone around him is going, "nope!! ^_^" because they're the ones perpetrating the shit. like man, I'd probably go insane too. it's just a terrible situation for everyone involved, and nobody's having fun except me KJHKFJH
