"it raises morale senku-chan~" senku hadn't been very convinced then but did not push the matter any further. each year he would make a short appearance before hiding back in the observatory. gen did not expect this year to be any different.

however, he was rather disappointed when the villagers had insisted that they were capable enough to handle the planning and setting-up process on their own. gen loved being part of the process! he was disappointed even further when he was dragged into the lab by senku to do even more manual labour!

and strangely, while the villagers seemed as enthusiastic and excited as they had been before, was it just gen's imagination or were they being extra giddy around him this year?

"i don't know what you're talking about mentalist, stop trying to slack off."

"how ean-may!" gen pouted but did not protest any further.

as the day crept closer, gen noted that the villagers were being oddly secretive around him. when gen pointed this out to ukyo, ukyo just shrugged and smiled.

"maybe they want to surprise you by showing that they can plan a good celebration too." very strange but gen did not have time to dwell on the matter further as he was assigned even more tasks by senku!

on april 1st, gen awoke to find the space beside him empty. it seems that senku had started his day earlier, this wouldn't have been unusual if today wasn't all about him! just what was going on? gen's question was answered the moment he stepped out of the observatory.
