Started reading Abigail slowly. It's my first book by Szabó so I cannot guess what turn it will take. I'm really liking the writing (and kudos to Len Rix for such beautiful translation) and thoroughly enjoying what Gina is getting herself into.

I too spent my formative years in a strict Christian girls' school which had a famous reputation through the city so I can't help but be endeared by Gina. She's as spoiled and haughty as I had expected when I read the blurb at the back of the book but I can't help want the very best of her as I read her fumble through the quick change of environment that is her dad's house to a strict boarding school in the countryside.

But it had been the first few pages that drew me in. I love her relationship with her father. They have a silent understanding between them, yet her childish and petulant misunderstanding and resentment towards him was so well written and real.
